Katie Corbett Pro Lend-Lease Act On December 17th, 1940, through one of President Franklin Roosevelts radio broadcasts,

the country was informed of Americas next plan involving World War II; The Lend-Lease Act. The Lend-Lease Act was instated to help end World War II. It consisted of U.S. military providing aid to foreign nations. Under this law many countries received weapons such as Britain, the Soviet Union, China, Brazil, and many other countries. The Lend-Lease Act was the best course of action for the US in the early years of World War II because it looked out for Americas best interests, it was easy to understand, and it made America look good. The Lend-Lease Act was the best course of action for the US because it helped ensure that the possibility of Hitler coming over seas to take us over when he finished Britain was impossible. One of the main fears of Americans at this time was that Hitler would just sail across the Atlantic when he finished taking over Europe and take over the US. Unofficially, because of the Neutrality Act the US agreed to, America was rooting for Britain to pull through and stop Hitlers reign of terror. This is because if Britain stopped Hitler than there would be no chance that he would come for the US next. By sending aid and weapons to Britain the US helped them beat Hitler and end the war. By helping others the US was actually just doing what would be best to protect themself. Another reason the act was the best course of action for the US is because it was a simple option. Up until this act was brought to the public Americans thought the US was in an isolated state. Isolationism in America was a touchy topic at the time. Many believed it was right and many believed it was wrong. Roosevelt had to carefully ease Americans into the idea of getting involved with the War. He did this by introducing an option that provided aid to foreign nations but not accepting any money in the exchange in order to keep the neutrality pact. Roosevelt introduced the plan during one of his famous fireside chats. He used the garden hose analogy so every American could understand exactly what the plan was. The simple idea of helping of a neighbor in an urgent emergency, such as lending a garden hose to help put out a house fire, is what helped keep Americans stay at peace with the idea of getting involved with the war. The simplicity of the LendLease program is one of the many strong reasons it was the best course of action for the US. Using the Lend-Lease was the best course of action for the US because it also made the US look good. Through the eyes of the world we were doing a really great thing. America was greatly respected for sticking to their neutral promise and not favoring any side of the war. America also played a huge part in ending the war. If it wasnt for Americas help then Nazi Germany never would have been defeated. Because the Lend-Lease act looked out for Americas best interests, it was easy to understand, and it made America look good, it was the best course of action for the US in the early years of World War II. Without the Lend-Lease act the World War II could have ended drastically different than the way it did.
