Knowledge base. Cameron demonstrates a solid knowledge base of general and curricular subject matter. He has a good understanding of the GLCEs and CCSS. He was able to step right in and do guided reading, jigsaws, etc. He engages the students in discussions and activities that integrate knowledge across subject areas. 2. Communication skills. Cameron communicates effectively with students, staff, and parents. Our class can be a talkative group at times and Cameron has employed both verbal and nonverbal communication when it was most effective. He has written an introductory letter to parents as well as written a class newsletter that was sent home. 3. Management of student's behavior. Cameron treats the students with respect. He is positive and calm in his interactions with students. He gets down near a students desk to talk quietly with a student having difficulty getting started on an assignment or to give encouragement to a student. He is monitoring those students needing extra support or redirection. He is open to suggestions for dealing with challenging student behavior. 4. Management of learning progress. Cameron is progressing in managing time efficiently. As he gets to know the students and their individual needs, he is able to differentiate his instruction.

5. Lesson planning. Cameron has developed effective lessons within the curriculum. He incorporates a variety of strategies and activities to keep the students engaged. He has planned a government unit following the Grade Level Content Expectations for fourth grade. He has used the document camera, data projector, and made power points to use in his instruction. He has planned for students to work in small groups, pairs, and whole group. 6. Lesson presentation. Cameron is a natural in presenting his lessons. He is engaging in his manner. Cameron is aware of the objective and stays focused on the goal. He will continue to monitor those students who are not on task or fiddling in their desks at the start of a lesson or when giving directions. 7. Use of materials and resources. Cameron is enthusiastic in choosing resources to use in his lessons. He will often say, I saw this in class or I did this in a field experience. He borrows resources to gather more ideas to improve his instruction. 8. Evaluation of self, students, and teaching. Cameron reflects often on what went well in his lesson and what he could/would do differently. He will gain experience in creating and administering assessments in the coming weeks. As he moves through the units, he will continue to do informal assessments to inform instruction. 9. Professionalism. Cameron conducts himself and dresses in a professional manner. He is committed to teaching and cares about doing a good job. Cameron spent time in our classroom before his official assignment began. From the first day on, he would step in and help where needed. He didnt need to be asked. He attends all after school committee meetings and volunteers for extra duty-basketball tournaments and spelling bees. 10. Human relations skills. Cameron is personable and presents himself in a confident, positive way. He is working to get to know all of the students.
