Lesson Title: Goal Mile Time Discuss and understand the importance of daily exercise. Students will continue to record physical activity and monitor their progress over time. Student will use an online app called Fleetly Fitness to begin tracking and recording their exercise activity. Grade Level: 6th Subject: Physical Education OBJECTIVE (S) INTELLIGENCES Standard Objectives: 1. Students will be understand and complete the timed mile. Student will record and discuss Kinesthetic, Verbal, the importance of daily Visual, Intrapersonal exercises. Student will be able to compare their results to the CA Fitnessgram Performance Standards. Technology Objective: 1. Student will demonstrate their technology knowledge by recording and tracking their fitness scores directly into a fitness app.

Materials iPad/Laptop/Computer Mobile Devices Fleetly Fitness App/Website Teacher Mile Record Sheet Running Sticks to keep track of laps Stop Watch Technology Standards http://www.iste.org/standards Prior to class, measure and use tape to indicate where students can measure their height in inches along side a pole or wall. Provide a scale to weigh them. Provide students copies of the CA Fitnessgram Performance Standards Procedure Day 1: 1. Anticipatory Set (5-7min) A. APK: Student are going to record exercise in Fleetly Fitness today and take time to update any exercises they have not recorded yet. 2. I Do Introduction (Direct Instruction) (10-15 min) Discuss that students are going to run the timed mile today. When they are done with the mile they will ask a partner to help measure their height. Demonstrate what how you want student to complete that. Students will also individually weight themselves. All of this information will be recorded into the Fleetly Fitness app.

After student are finished with the mile, students should have the following physical activity logged-Timed Mile, Push-Ups, Curl-Ups, Body Composition: Height & Weight These are entry level assessments entries so that student can monitor their progress over time. Explain to students that after they are finished with mile they can compare their results with the CA Fitnessgram Performance Standards 3. We Do Lead student through stretches and allow students to begin Timed Mile. Hand out sticks to help students keep track of the amount of laps. Provide times as they pass you and encourage students to keep a pace that will allow them to build cardiovascular endurance to jog longer. After each student completes the mile, provide him or her their time, and remind them to record that time on the teachers spreadsheet as well as in their Fleetly Fitness log. Water Break 4. You Do (Rest of class time) Remind students to get water. As the students finish their mile, they will choose partners and work together to measure height and independently measure their weight. Students will also use this time to record any other physical activity they have participated. 5. Closure/Assessment: Students will respond on sticky note and place in a box or container before learning class. Question: Have you enjoyed tracking your physical activity? Explain in 2-3 sentences.
