PLAN FOR A VISIT OUT TO A VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION

A plan to organise an outing to Croke Park, as part of our enterprise activity for LCVP. Objectives:
We want to plan a visit out to voluntary organisation. We want to fund this trip ourselves thus adding no extra costs to the school. We want to work well as a team and organise this trip successfully. I hope to improve my organisation and team work skills.

Research Methods:
We will research the Croke Park tour on their website to see if it would be suitable for our visit out to a voluntary organisation. We will also meet with our principal Ms. Dunne to find out a suitable day for all 5th year students and teachers to go on this trip. If this is suitable we will contact Croke Park to find out what dates and times are available for a group tour and also to get the prices. We will research 3 bus companies to compare the prices to bring us to and from Croke Park. I will research the details of the tour and the activities that are available for us to do in Croke Park on the internet.

Analysis of Research:
As a result of our research we came to the conclusion that Croke Park is a suitable location to visit a voluntary organisation. As a result of our meeting with our Principal Ms. Dunne we got permission to organise this visit out for Monday the 20th February 2012. As a result of this we are able to book the Croke Park tour for 11 a.m. on the 20th February 2012, at the cost of 7.00 per student. We also booked 3 coaches from the cheapest bus company at the cost of 8.00 per student. As a result of researching Croke Park on the internet I became aware of what the day had in store for us. This included various activities and a tour of the playing grounds.

Actions:
January 10th- We will discuss in class the different voluntary organisations we could visit. January 17th- We will meet with the other 5th year LCVP teachers to invite their class to go on this visit out as it would also be relevant to their studies.

We will meet with our Principal to get a suitable date for all the 5th years to go on this visit out. January 24th- We will get prices from the 3 bus companies for the transport and we will then book the trip to Croke Park for the number of students and teachers going on this trip. January 31st- We will send out permission slips to parents seeking permission to go on this trip and include in it the cost of the trip. I will also begin to collect the money from the students in my class and set a deadline for when it is to be brought in by. Any money I collect will be put in the school safe until the day of the trip. February 2nd- We will research a good location to stop for lunch on the way home, taking into account the route home, traffic and parking availability. February 7th- We will plan out the details of the day and we will include the time of departure, time of the tour, time to stop for food and the time of return to the school, taking into account that students need to be back for buses at 4p.m. February 12th- We will give final details of the trip to the students, the teachers involved, our Principal Ms. Dunne and the bus company. We will also confirm final numbers for the tour with Croke Park. February 20th- Day of tour. 9.00 a.m.: Do a final count on numbers and depart the school for Dublin. 10.45 a.m.: Arrive at Croke Park. We will pay for the tour and begin the tour at 11.00 a.m. 12.00 a.m.: We will finish the tour and have fifteen minutes to look around the Croke Park shop. We will then depart for Stillorgan shopping centre for lunch. 1.00 p.m.: Arrive at Stillorgan shopping centre for lunch for 1 hour. 2.00 p.m.: Depart from Stillorgan and head back to Carnew. 3.45 p.m.: Arrive back in Carnew in time for the buses at 4 p.m.

Revenue and Costs:

Evaluation Methods:
If we fully fund this trip ourselves by collecting the correct amount of money, then we will save the school much needed cash. If we successfully plan this trip then we will all come away from the activity with improved team work and individual skills, and will ask our teacher to evaluate our performance as a class by using a questionnaire. If I can write up my enterprise activity correctly and collect all the money due I will have shown that I have achieved my personal objective of improving my organisational and team work skills. If we achieve all of the aims we set out, we will have shown that we have been successful in planning our outing. We will discuss these during a class discussion after the activity has taken place.
