My Map
To reach my target to getting the different concepts, nature and purposes of the curriculum, do the following task:

Visit the school. Interview the school community and ask views about the traditional/ progressive curriculum. Inquire on the type of curriculum used in their school. Request for a sample of their curriculum: 4.1 Scope/ Sequence Chart 4.2 Teaching Guide 4.3 Sample Lesson Plan

My Tools

Accomplish the H Chart. Interview an administrator or a faculty member, Get their ideas/ views of the curriculum. Write the differences on both sides and the similarities at the center and then write your personal insights.

A traditional curriculum is an educational curriculum which follows established guidelines and practices. Teacher-centered Education for next school level High studentteacher ratio External discipline Isolated curriculum Product orientated Learning by drill

They both cater to the learning needs of the learners. Set of learning concepts for the learners and teachers as well as the whole school community achieve its goals and

Progressive classroom usually has an air of informality. The teachers voice is not the dominant one in the room but rather that of the children. Student centered Education for the moment Low student-teacher ratio Positive discipline Integrated

My Personal Insight: The curriculum is just a set of broad guidelines, a blueprint of sorts, an intention, and a direction. This has to be implemented, operationalized, converted into action, and interpreted. It is done by the teacher through her year & lesson plans & then operationalized 'in the field' with her students. The broad goals are interpreted into achievable objectives & put into action. Feedback from students & the dynamics of & within the classroom, help the teacher to modify/tweak the curriculum or convey suggestions to the theoreticians or planners. Thus curriculum building is a continuous, ongoing process.

My Personal Insight:

School uses different types of curricula. The curriculum reflects current knowledge of children's learning and therefore provides: direct experiences with the real world; developmentally appropriate subject matter, skills, and materials; content that is directly relevant to the child's environment, experiences and interests; extensive opportunities for language development; integration of content areas; and activities that support different approaches to learning.

My Enriching Activities
If you are to design a curriculum for your own school, what are the things you need to consider? Accomplish the graphic organizer below.

Individual differences among learners

Parents participation

The Availability of surrounding resources of the school

Things I need to do to consider in preparing my schools curriculum

Competent teachers

My Analysis
1. Why do we need to consider the traditional and progressive points of view of curriculum? It is because in a classroom, a diverse student could be found. As a teacher you must fit your teachings to the needs of everyone in your class. All were not the same, you need tactics so that your students can absorb what you taught and can apply it within their lives for them to survive and to be competitive enough in this struggling world. That is why, whatever curriculum you'll choose be sure that your students will going to learn.

2. How do the different educational philosophies relate to the curriculum in the schools you are visited? Cite examples/ situations? These educational philosophies are guidelines that help in designing a schools curriculum. These philosophies provide the educators, teachers, and curriculum makers to plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum in schools. Why is there a need to revise the curriculum from time to time? Because society's values and needs change over time. Nowadays, with technology shifts, and an economy that is based on different skills, if we had the same curriculum, it would be a catastrophe. Curricula have changed to meet the different needs that we have now. It also helps in attainment of better curriculum and improvement of the school. This is one way to accommodate and to adjust on the learning trends of education.

Episode 2
WHATS THE CURRICULUM MADE OF?

My Map

For this concept, go through the following steps.

2. Interview a school administrator/ faculty 1. Visit a school and find out how they attain the aims of Elementary, Secondary and Tertiary education. about how they concretize their schools vision and goals into the curriculum.

4. Interview one or two students and ask them their schools vision/ mission. .

3 .Record the different methods/ strategies that they employed to attain their schools objective.

My Tools
For this Episode, visit a school/ university or get a copy of the school brochure and a copy of the school / universitys vision, mission and goals on this page.

VISION The whole school community envisions a value-oriented,

childfriendly, academically performing learning environment, which eventually inspires different folks to continuously learn and aspire competence in all endeavors of life.

MISSION

Libtong Community Staff try its best to acquire adequate resources, promotes the use of appropriate technology to enhance learning and to solicit the active and sincere support of the family an community-at-large. Every child in the school will be affirmed to be a unique individual from the other and that the staff will dedicate their talents and energies to its realization.

GOALS Specifically , the following are the primordial goals and

objectives in the accomplishment of the desired targets: To provide knowledge and develop knowledge and skills, attitudes and values essential to personal development and necessary for living and in contributing to a developing and changing social community.

To improve performance level of pupils in the different subject areas through improved instruction, improved supervision, curricular enrichment and staff development.

To inculcate social, spiritual and moral values based on abidin faith in God and genuine love of country and people.

To improve school facilities and implement special thrusts and projects of the government.

My Analysis
1. How important is the schools vision, mission and goals in designing the curriculum? The schools vision, mission and goals provide the direction of the learning experience in school. These set the atmosphere as to the needs, strengths and weakness of the recipients, the pupils and to the situation of the school community. 2. What methods and strategies were employed by the school community to realize these goals?

3. How did the students manifest that they have internalized their vision, mission and goals?

My Reflections/ My Insights Paste the schools brochure on this page

To attain the goals of the school; the school administration, the teaching staff, the school community and parents must join together and help each other. The views of the school and societies are reflected through the approaches to curriculum. These approaches further shows the viewpoints of curriculum development and design, the learners and their roles, the teachers and the school administrators and the one that plans the curriculum. It also includes the goals and objectives of the curriculum. There are also components which make up the curriculum. Among these are what they say the major components. First are the aims, goals and objectives. The second are the subject matters and contents. The third are the learning experiences and the last is the evaluation approaches. All of these are important components which therefore guides the school.

Proof/ Activities / Ways to help the students internalize their schools vision, mission, and goals.

There are ways to help the learners internalize th schools vision, mission and goals. Among these are

Integration of values in all the learning areas in any way possible.

Making the school clean and green inside and outside the schools surrounding by planting an cleaning around the school.

Using of all the methods and strategies of teaching that suits with the learning abilities of the learners. Group activities which will then develop cooperative learning among the learners and their social skills. Discovery learning through experiments, field trips and other activities. Using of effective teaching aids.

Put a simple of any of the following on this page.

EPISODE 3
WHATS NEW IN TEACHING and LEARNING?

IN ORDER TO REACH MY TARGET I SHOULD DO THE FOLLOWING STEPS IN THE PYRAMID?

3. Write your insights on teaching and learning.

2. Observe a class

1. Write your ideas on teaching and learning.

My Tools For this Episode, I will use the activity form given below. Interview a teacher. Ask if they perform thes series of actions in the teaching process.

PLAN

IMPLEMENT

EVALUATE

Observe a class, record the situations where these behavioral learning theories ar applied in real classroom work.

Behavioral Learning Theories -emphasize observable behavior such as new skills, knowledge or attitudes which can be demonstrated.

Cognitive Learning Theories -unobservable mental processes used to learn and remember new information or acquire skills.

Cognitive Learning Theories- unobservable mental processes used to learn and remember new information or acquire skills.

Reception Learning- learners are actively involved in their own learning

My Analysis
1. Explain why teaching and learning give life and meaning to the curriculum. Teaching and learning give life and meaning to the curriculum because through the teaching and learning process the curriculum used by the school is given such importance for it serves as guidelines in the process. Teaching and learning will supplement and complement each other. The value placed in teaching will reap the same value in learning, thus a good curriculum can be judged by the kind of teaching and the quality of learning derived from it. 2. Discuss why the deluge of information poses a great challenge to both teaching and learning.

The deluge of information poses a great challenge to both teaching and learning process because from time to time the teacher and the learner needs to adjust to the new information. They must adapt themselves on the process to enhance the teaching and learning process.

My Reflections / My Insights

My Tools A curriculum can be organized either horizontally or vertically. Write samples of them on the illustrations.

HORIZONTAL ARTICULATION
The direction of the curriculum is sideways. For example, the subject is social studies moves horizontally among history, geography, civics and culture. Taking content in mathematics and relating those to science is also an example of this articulation.

Vertical Articulation
The sequence of curriCular elements follow a

vertical design . For example, social Studies content, putting The family ahead of the topic community. In science, the bigger topic on living things comes ahead of topics on plant and animals

My Analysis 1. Examine the Basic Education Curriculum. What aspects do you want to modify. Why?

2. What curriculum models do you prefer? Why?
