Deat Chairwoman O'Neill,
‘We write to you today with gratitude for your successfull navigation of the State Party through this
tumultuous time. Yoiir leadership has guided the State Party to the overwhelming Democratic
victories of 2008 and we are confident that your continued leadership will lead to mote Democratic
victories ahead.
As you well know, the Governor appointed Senator Gillibrand to a seat that will be subject to an
lection in 2010. Some of the cosigners of this letter’ may suppott Senator Gillibrand. Some ate
considesing sunning for the seat. Others remain undecided, However, each of us wants « Democrat
to win in a process that is fair, open and inclusive.
We therefore remind you respectfully of the spitit of the State Democratic Patty rules that allow
equal access and distribution of materials for all potential contenders. This is the tradition the State
Committee has followed in the past when there were multiple candidates for one designation.
‘The State Pasty will not have a designee for the position until the convention is held in the spring of
2010, at which time the State Committee members will have the opportunity to vote to designate a
candidate. Until a designee is chosen by the State Committee, we know we can count on you to
ensure that the designating process is fair and resources ate not improperly allocated. Indeed, the
members of the Democratic State Committee deserve to make a choice without being impaired or
prejudiced in any way.
‘Thank you for continuing the Democratic principles that have made our party so sttong. We have
gteat confidence in your ability to lead our party through our 2010 elections and look forward to the
many Democtatie victories to come.
Sincerely,
Y
