Facts to Consider

The academic year at WSU begins Summer semester. If transferring from an institution which begins Fall semester, summer classes taken before the transfer, will count towards aid at WSU (1/3 of available aid used for year) When transferring mid-year, Financial Aid has to be re-rewarded by WSU, and can change Awarded aid will be based on how much federal & state funds have been used already If transferring mid-year, you will need to cancel financial aid at your previous institution, before being awarded aid at WSU Remember that scholarships specific to your institution will not be part of your aid at WSU

Grants & Loans

Federal Stafford loan limits are based on academic year (freshman, sophomore, etc.). Until all credits have transferred in, a freshman level award may be posted. That amount will likely increase when all credits have gone through & a higher status is determined

Pell grants have a 600% limit. This means you are eligible for the grant for up to six years of college, at full-time status. Time spent at a community college counts toward the 600% Parent PLUS loans do not transfer. Please have your parent re-apply through Wright State University. Applications can be found at www.wright.edu/financial-aid in the forms and resources section.

Private loans do not transfer. In some cases, lenders can send a certification request, but typically a new application will be required. Please contact your lender and visit the Financial Aid website, www.wright.edu/financial-aid for information on private loans.

Satisfactory Academic Progress

When transferring to WSU, your GPA will start over. However, your credits attempted versus credits earned do not change, and this can affect your SAP. At the end of each spring semester, we will calculate your SAP by taking your credits earned and dividing it by your credits attempted.

You must maintain a 67% in order to keep financial aid If you go under 67%, you will lose financial aid. However, there is an appeals process that you may go through, in order to regain financial aid. WSUs SAP Policy is used to determine your federal student aid eligibility and does not reflect your continued enrollment in your program of study.

Military Credits

Speak to an advisor in the Transfer Student Center about your major, transfer credits, and educational/personal goals (8:30 a.m.5 p.m., Monday-Friday).

Wright State awards college credit for basic military training. All eligible credits must be recognized by the American Council on Education (ACE), who recommends appropriate credit hours to be awarded.

If you have more than 90 quarter/60 semester hours and know your intended major, or have taken major-related or technical courses, you may contact the appropriate college/department directly.

Request transcripts from all the institutions that you have attended, including Advanced Placement (AP), CLEP, DANTES Standardized Subject Test, Excelsior College Credit-byexam, and eligible military training credits (CCAF, AARTS, SMART, & USCG)

Have final transcripts sent to the Office of Admissions. To avoid duplication of courses, all transcripts should be submitted as soon as they are available.
