Children’s Art Classes

Emerald Arts
Art classes for kids aged 6-14
Classes run:
Weekday classes:
Ages 6-9 Tuesday (4pm – 5.15 pm)
Ages 10-12 Wednesday (4 pm – 5.15 pm)
Ages 13-14 Tuesday (5.30pm – 6.45 pm)
Saturday classes:
2pm – 3.15pm (ages 8-11)
3.30pm-5pm Drawing (ages 12-14)
If you would like your child to attend classes at Emerald
Arts but cannot make these class times, we may be able
to arrange a time more suitable.
Students will learn and experiment in a broad spec-
trum of artistic styles and techniques, the program
will include:
Sculpture, toy design and construction, Acrylic
and Watercolour painting (inc. how to blend
colours and painting techniques to enhance
pre-existing skill sets), technical drawing, illustra-
tion, graffiti art (on canvas, not walls), and
Visual literacy (interpreting media forms for
meaning, intent, purpose etc).
If parents or students have any particular requests, for
example an area of the curriculum or skill that they wish
to focus on, we are always more than happy to
discuss incorporating these into the program.
Weekday classes will focus on group activities. The
Saturday afternoon classes are for students who wish to
explore more finely tuned studies. These classes will
begin with a drawing lesson followed by guided
experimentation with a range of visual media.
Class sizes are limited to 8 students per class to
maximise interaction between student and teacher.
Cost: Lessons are $20 each, or parents can pay in blocks
and receive a discount (10 weeks) $175. Payments can be
made in cash (in person), by cheque (made
out to “Emerald Arts”) or by direct deposit (internet
banking).
Please note: fees may not be refunded if students do not
attend class, however, students may arrange to make up
missed classes. Fees cover basic materials (paper, paints,
drawing implements). If students require extra supplies
for a project parents will be advised ahead of time (for
example, if a student wishes to keep a “visual diary”).
Students are advised to wear old clothes and to bring
an old work shirt or apron, as painting can tend to
be messy.
