or pronoun they modify. In this lesson, we are going to see how we can make adjectives from other words we know. This is going to be by adding suffixes . what is a suffix? A suffix is a word ending that consists of a letter or group of letters that we attach to the end of a word to change its meaning or grammatical category. Examples: a/ care -> careful / careless (adjective suffixes) b/ modern -> modernity (noun suffixes) c/ visual -> visualize (verb suffixes) As in the examples above, the endings in red colour are all suffixes, but they belong to different word categories (which we will cover later on).
