Lynx effect?
1. Why are camera shots important in terms of representation? 2. Have our perceptions of Lynx changed or do their ads confirm what we already thought? 3. What assumptions does it make about its target audience? 4. How do we know that the poster and TV ad are a part of the same campaign?
In order to plan for your essay, these questions should help you establish your point of view. 1)In the print ad, how is gender represented? Think about both the woman whose image is used AND the message that the ad is sending about the target audience (young men). 2)In the TV ad, how is gender represented? Think about the amount of screen time each character has, they way the act towards each other and the closing shot. 3)Has Lynx changed the way it is appealing to audiences in this campaign? 4)What is your opinion of the representation of gender in the media particularly advertising? For example, do you think men and women are treated equally and fairly? Can you think of an advert that stands out as being positive or negative in its treatment of gender?
