ABSTRACT

The demand for higher bandwidth is ever increasing and now the technology is moving from electrical to optical domain. Any communication network would have node where signal form more than one source meet further routing. A switch performs this task. In an optical work this task would have to be performed in an optical domain. As a result optical technology is playing an important role in telecom sector. In this thesis the performance of the switch is measured under prioritized traffic. This thesis also gives computational model for the operation window for the estimate of the switch performance.
