More verbs that work like gustar


apetecer encantar importar parecer Te apetece comer algo? Me encantan las empanadas! No me importa ...! Qu les parece un compromiso?

There are a lot of high frequency verbs that are very useful and that work just like gustar in Spanish. Were going to take a look a couple of them.

You heard several of them in the video. For example, do you remember when they asked, Te apetece comer algo? Does eating something sound good to you? Apetecer means to sound good. Te apetece comer algo?

And in the end of the video, Hannah says, Me encantan las empanadas! The verb is encantar, which literally means to be enchanting, but it doesnt sound like that sounds to us in English. It means to really, really, really like. We would say love: I love empanadas. Me encantan las empanadas! Las empanadas ... encantan ... a mi. Me encantan las empanadas! The ending n in encantan agrees with the plural subject. We also hear the verb importar. Daniel gets upset because hes hungry and he says No me importa comer, desayunar, merendar! No me importa! ... which literally means, I really dont care or its not important to me ... whether its eating breakfast, eating lunch, eating snack. Call it whatever you want to call it: No me importa. He was hungry. Tengo hambre, he said.

We also hear the verb parecer. Qu les parece un compromiso? Hannah offers a compromise at the end of the video. Qu les parece un compromiso? So compromiso is the subject of the sentence, a compromise. Parece is how does it seem? A compromise ... seems good ... to

you all (ustedes)? Shes talking to the entire group, so she uses the pronoun les. Qu les parece un compromiso? How does a compromise sound to you guys?
