differences, we discuss the importance of learning about different people and places and distinguishing between different kinds of resources. This year I took my 3rd 3 graders to the High Museum of Art to see the current exhibit that highlighted many modern artists. Before we went, students were introduced to many of the artists and artworks they were going to see in the exhibit. Several artworks had a small amount of nudity or questionable material for young students. Discussions were held about what to do when faced with these artworks and therefore how to handle information that is not always meant for students. Students read materials and held discussions about how to respect the information. 5th grade students worked 5 together in groups to design a graphic organizer using Imagination software. Students had to sort through their research to condense their information into an easy to organize graphic organizer and then present to the rest of the class.
