Unit Title: Career Planning and Exploration Established Goals: Students will employ strategies to achieve future career goals and know where and how to obtain information about the world of work and postsecondary training/education. Develop skills to locate, evaluate and interpret career information. Students will examine careers of interests and analyze factors that make the best career match for them. Essential Questions: What is a Career? Why are skills and interests important in a Career?

Understandings: Students will understand that skills, interests, and work values are needed to be successful in a career.

Students will know: Skills needed for career(s) of interest. Salaries and career clusters related to their career choice.

Students will be able to: Research and explain careers that best match their interest.

STAGE 2 ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE Performance Tasks: Interest Profiler Career Cluster Survey Other Evidence: Teacher observation and student discussion.

Key Criteria: Oral presentation, career survey, interest profiler chart.

For each career, list the following for three careers in each of the three clusters: salary, education level, state average annual earnings, state employment outlook, and career cluster. Career Finder: Search for careers using salaries, skills, and interests. Compare Careers Pick two careers of interest and compare them side by side.
