First Six Weeks Project Native American Story

For this project, students will create a childrens book, with the main character as a Native American in Texas. Students may choose any of the tribes discussed in class. The book will be produced using three pieces of regular computer printer paper, folded in half, and bound with staples. Students should put their name and class period on the front cover of their project. The story must be an original production, or an adaptation of a classic childrens tale. The following is a guide of how the story will be graded. Elements of Plot (Introduction, Climax, Resolution, etc.) 10 points Originality 10 points Historical Accuracy 60 points total Presentation (Artwork) 20 points Historical Accuracy refers to whether or not the following aspects of the Native Texan tribe is displayed in the story -Foods eaten by the tribe - Shelter tribe lived in -Leadership of the tribe - Geography of Texas in tribes lands -Other information about the tribe described in class Presentation refers to the overall visual presentation of the book. Of course, this is not a grade on the artistic ability of the author, but the amount of effort put into making the book visually appealing. BOOKS ARE DUE SEP 30 (A-DAY) AND OCT 1 (B-DAY) AND COUNT FOR 20% OF THE SIX WEEKS GRADE. BOOKS RECEIVED LATE WILL INCUR LATE PENALTIES AS LINED OUT IN THE SYLLABUS. NO BOOKS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER OCT 3!!!!!
