School Recycling Program

Mrs. Wagner and the Environmental Science Class are collecting items to be recycled to make money for the school and keep them out of landfills. These items will be collected until the end of the school year.

We had a very productive meeting on January 9th. We spoke with Terry Whewell about the K-6 library and discussed some long term goals. A short term goal that we hope you can help us with, is a book drive! We are collecting "Scholastic" books that will be donated to the K-6 library! So, if you have any books that your kids have outgrown, or have multiples of, please contact Maryon Shaw (1-217-320-8372 call or text) and we will get them picked up! PTO is also working on a "Read-In" for read across America day! Look for information coming home with your students soon!

Spelling Bee
Congratulations to our school spelling bee winners- Ericka Huseman and Tori Preston. They will be moving on to the ROE #46 annual spelling bee which will be held on Tuesday, February 5th at 6:30 p.m. in the Jacksonville High School auditorium.

High School Baseball

February 17th Coach Mark Dyer will be having a meeting for parents of students that are interested in playing boys high school baseball. Meeting will be at Winchester Elementary at 2:00 pm in Mark Dyers room. February 25th will be the first practice If you have a questions please call Coach Dyer at 217-370-7229

Senior Class Supper

* Where: Bluffs School Cafeteria * Date: Feb. 15th, 2013 * Serving: Spaghetti, garlic bread, green beans, dessert, tea, water, and lemonade. * Prices for supper: $6 for advance ticket or $7 if purchased at the door.

We are raffling off a new video gamer jacket. It is black and has never been worn. From Raven Software has patches for Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops, Call of Duty, and Elite. It is a one of a kind jacket.
You can get 1 ticket for $3.00 and 2 for $5.00

Jump Rope for Heart

Its that time of year again! We are kicking off our Jump Rope for Heart on February 14th & 15th. If you purchased a Red Out t-shirt please remember to wear it on the day of the event. Our goal, as a school, is to raise $3500. If we reach our goal the American Heart Association will give us $200 toward P.E. equipment. Grades K-6th will be participating in the fundraiser. All money is due by the day of the event on February 14th. Please join us in helping children in need of medical assistance.
