Essay MARA

As a part of 7-members family and the oldest among us, I have always been taught to be a kindhearted person, optimistic, responsible, honest and determined in every good effort I do. I was born on 17 September 1993 in Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia, Kelantan and was given name Muhammad Faiz Taqiyuddin b Mohd Nor. Up until now this name really suits me well. Being born as a first child, my parent always place a big hope upon me to fulfill my responsibility as a humankind, that is to succeed in this world and in the eternal life as well. When I was 13-years old, I saw my friends sister graduated as an optometrist student from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in year 2006. From that precious moment, I could see his parent smile in enthusiasm, seeing the first child of them had achieved what she had been dreaming and striving all the years and I promised to myself that I would be like their sister, perhaps better. My family is not classified as rich, but we lived simply and happily without any lack in life necessity. My father used to work as a employee of Biro Tata Negara cawangan Kelantan and now he has been promoted to Director of BTN while my mother as a teacher at SMK Putera. When looking deeply into themselves, my feeling always touched by their attitudes and sacrifices in order to see me succeed in my study. I finished my primary school years with flying colours; 5A in UPSR. From that particular moment, I was offered to continue my study at a brilliant boarding school with title Sekolah Sekolah Menengah Ugama Arab (SMUA). I started my new life in secondary school on SMUA Maahad Muhammadi (L) in year 2006. On 2008, I sat for my PMR examination and with Gods will, I got straight As. Praise to God. From all the years, I have learnt the importance of trustworthy in friendship, family, God, self and how do all the values related to each others. I realized that those things really play big roles in my life. Four years after that, I decided to get myself transferred into Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Ismail Petra in 20010. I was lucky to have my mother, who work at the school just next to my new school. So, my mother could visit me more frequently and could keep his eyes on me for everything I do. Despite of those brilliant achievements in my study, I had never forgotten to focus on cocurricular activities. To me, all those activities would cultivate my personal building like selfconfidence, positive-thinking and many other values that I could not retrieve them from academics learning merely. I like camping, and because of my capability in leadership, I participated in several national camping organize by Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia and had won several prizes from my contribution and the best achievement was when I participate in Jamboree Dunia that was held at Thailand on year 2009. Getting involved in such activities had taught me on how to overcome the crowd-fears. Other than that, I also realized that cooperation was very essential in order for us to get our goals in anything we dream about. Also, I was also appointed to be the Ahli Majlis Tertinggi (AMT) in scout organization in my school. I also like sport, so I participated in several kinds of them like Olahraga and badmiton. However, I enjoyed playing badminton the most because I like the kind of sport with vigorous and swift movements. The best achievement I had was when I was in form 4; my team won the first prize in school level. I was very grateful to my friends and teachers for giving

me opportunity and trust to be the leader in our organization. From that moment, it really reminds me of a clich that my best friend used to say The best of a friend can offer is that trust. As mention earlier, I was transferred to a new school on 2010 and I had to sit for SPM that particular year. I got 9A and 1B in my trial examination. Nevertheless, I had proven that then when there is a will there is a way. From my trial result, I tried to motivate myself to be more determined and hardworking in order to face the most remarkable event on that year, SPM. I got the slip with full of enjoyment and grateful dancing together in my mind. Praise to god for giving the brilliant result. With the result 10AS, consequently I remembered MARA. From the encouragement by my teachers and family, I applied the scholarship from MARA. However, I failed to get the scholarship due to few unknown reason. Then I continued my studies at Pusat Asasi Sains, Universiti Malaya (PASUM). My result from this institution are not very good as I have been encountered a few new problem during my period studying here. First of all, this is my first time ever studying outside of my beloved state, Kelantan. So I have been affected by the syndrome that people called it Culture Shock. Moreover, PASUM is one of the toughest foundation in Malaysia. So, my result is expectable compared to all syllabus that I have to studies in one year period. Whenever they asked me for why I chose this course I would simply reply I like biology and I love anything related to medics . I guess someday they will know what I meant to say. Another distinct reason for why I chose medical course is that medicine plays an important role in this new era since it builds ones quality of life. By using creativity and technical skills, a doctor is a life saver. Furthermore, an doctor is a problem solver. This can be proven when a doctor is needed to overcome the news pathogen that had recently encounter. This newly discovered virus are cause mainly due to this hectic life that we are leading nowaday. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really enjoy helping people. I also enjoy learning, solving problems, and being intellectually stimulated. There are other jobs that fulfill some of these requirements, but medicine seems to fulfill them all for me. To further my view of future, I ought to think of Royal College of Surgeon, Ireland. The university offers the study of medical studies that consume about 3 years of study. The primary reason for why I choose this university was that because of its excellent academic performance. This dream was since I was a young boy when I had my friend to study there. Since then, I have aimed this university for quite a long time. I hope that one I could really retrieve my dreams into reality. Malaysia is now searching for more available potentials in order to diverge its potential resources. With this hope of nation, I wish I could be a part of the successors and change Malaysia into a better country. After finishing my undergraduate study, I hope I can serve my country well. The first thing is to resolve the current environmental issues and change Malaysia to be a role-model of the world. Second is to serve the humankind in order to fight pandemic disease and other threats to human life. With this kind of determination, I strongly believe that I can make Malaysia a better place to live. With that, I end my writings with full of hope.
