Heredity

I am a tiny geometric structure that reproduces inside of a living cell. I range in size from 20 to 250 nanometers (one billionth of a meter.) My genes are made from DNA or RNA. I can have a double or a single strand of DNA. I contain between 10 and 200 genes. I can lay dormant but when I get inside of a host I take over and reproduce, often very quickly. I am similar to mechanized bits of information, like robots. Im a small, infectious agent that consists of a core genetic material surrounded by a shell of protein. I infect by commandeering the host cells synthetic capabilities to reproduce more of my kind. I can be killed, but only by one very powerful agent. I come alive when I infect the host cell. Inside of a host cell I can move, reproduce, and produce energy but outside of a host cell I cannot do these things. My offspring have similar DNA to me.
