THIS REPORT SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS 0F 634 302 PHARMACEUTICAL TECHNOLOGY II FACULTY OF PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCE, KHON KAEN UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC YEAR 2012
Method
Dissolve 2g. of menthol and 1 g of peppermint oil in ethanol 5g. (100 ml beaker)
Add 7.5g. of propylene glycol Add EDTA 0.05 g which dissolve in 3g. of purified water
Slowly add
Add TEA as need Add indigo blue
Conclusion From this formula we use 1 %w/w carbopol 934 . We got the colorless smooth gel but the gel is not so clear ,it is cloudy may be it is because of the peppermint oil.And if the concentration of carbopol is so high the lump might be occur and the gel can be cloudy. Discussion We slowly sow carbopol in to water to prevent lumping, and then dissolve EDTA in water before pour it in to mortar because EDTA is solid and adding other ingredients, and we also dissolve menthol and peppermint oil in ethanol to prevent the incompatible of oil and water. The last step is adding TEA to neutralize carbopol to stay in base state because if it not in base state the gel is cannot occur. But our gel that we prepared is so cloudy may be because of amount of oil that we have added then I design the future formula to prove the cloudy gel by decrease the amount of the oil.
