Activities
1. All ELA students will be pulled to plant a lima bean and a flower. They will be looking at regalia, learning vocabulary, and gaining background knowledge. 2. All students will write step-by-step how-to books of how to plant a plant.

3. In technology, all students will use Kidspiration to create a Flow Map of the steps necessary to plant something. (There will be a folder of pictures for the students to use). This will be differentiated based on student ability. Some students will type what they actually wrote in their how-to books, some will just have pictures, and some will add more information to their Flow Map. 4. The students will then follow the steps created on the Flow Map and/or how-to book to plant lima beans. 5. We will then observe the plants and the students will record the observations in their journals.

Assessment
We will assess the students at many different points in this unit. The students will be assessed with the ELA teacher during an informal assessment of the vocabulary and process of planting something. The classroom teacher will formally assess the how-to books based on a student and teacher rubric. The technology teacher will assess students will formally assess the students ability to use Kidspration based on a simple rubric.
