THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER (LMC)

THE LMC IS DESIGNED TO BE USED AS AN EXTENSION OF THE CLASSROOM. FOLLOWING THESE GUIDELINES WILL HELP IT RUN MORE EFFICIENTLY GENERAL INFORMATION
a. In addition to reading and researching, the LMC can be used for large group presentations/ demonstrations, combined class exploration, departmental displays fairs and speakers. To reserve a period for your class, use the sign-up folders on the back counter of the outer office. Each page is dated. Sign your name under Teacher beside the corresponding period. Also, indicate if you would like any special equipment or materials at the time you use the center. To provide the best experience for the students, it is helpful if the classroom teacher discusses with the media specialist the type of research or other learning activity that is planned and the kind of materials needed to assist in its success. Teachers must accompany their students to the LMC and remain with them during the entire period. The classroom teacher is responsible for the discipline of the class. The media specialist reserves the right to dismiss any student or class whose behavior is not appropriate while in the media center. Teachers may send up to five students to the LMC without accompanying them. If the LMC is not busy with a full class and the LMC Coordinator is present (check before hand), teachers may send students with an LMC admit slip showing student names, the time they left the classroom, the teachers signature, and stating the purpose they are in the library. Student identification numbers are kept on the computer at the circulation desk. Books may be checked out for three weeks. Books may be renewed once. Reference books need to remain in the LMC unless other arrangements are made. Lists of students with overdue materials will be sent regularly. Please check the list and send the students to the LMC during passing periods to return books or pay fines.
