Assumptions: a) Cross-sectional area is constant and has an axis of symmetry that is perpendicular to the direction of the applied moment. b) Material is homogeneous and isotropic, and it behaves in a linear-elastic manner c) Cross sectional plane remains plane d) In-plane distortion of cross section is negligible Note: 1.
