Objective of the Project

To suggest and recommend concrete implementable strategies to the bank so as to improve its performance in money markets

and both form of capital markets namely debt and equity. Thus, my project emphasises on four parts equity, government securities, money market instruments and CBLO instruments.

Scope of the Project

The scope of the project undertaken is to mainly look into four major areas of treasury management, which are Part I Effectiveness of equity market transactions and timing of entry & exit. Part II Effectiveness of dealing in GOI Securities. Part III - Effectiveness of dealing in Money market Instruments. Part IV Effectiveness of borrowing under CBLO.

Conclusion of the Project

The summer internship project undertaken in Exim Bank was an eye opener in term of their healthy operations in Treasury portfolio of the bank. Their treasury Investment portfolio consist mainly of investment done in Equity, Government Securities and Money Market instruments. On analysing the operations, I found that the bank has a strong hold in money market instruments like Call Money/ Notice Money, Term Deposits, Term money, Commercial Paper, Certificate of Deposit. The bank had a huge investment in G Secs like treasury bills, dated Government Securities.
