GRAY CABLE SOCKS 2 balls of sock yarn 2 spools of reinforcing yarn for heel and toe.

size 1 double pointed needles (or two circular needles) or size needed to obtain gauge gauge: 8 st = 1 inch Using the Norwegian caston method, cast on 16 stitches per needle for a total of 64 stitches. If you like to have a somewhat looser first row (which I prefer), use a size 2 needle for the first few rows before switching to size 1. K1P1 ribbing for 1 inch Begin pattern. Needles 1 and 3 will carry the main cable plus two pearls on each side. Keep in pattern until desired length. Make the heel. I recommend reinforcing yarn to strengthen both the heel and toe. As you move to start the heel, position the sock so that the cable patterns will flank the leg on either side (rather than front and back). Complete the sock and toe. Weave in ends.

Note the small cables that add dimension to what could be slightly dull ribbing.
