HOW do I DEAL with all of THIS? - Lazarus Takawira
(NKJV)
Prologue
I almost titled this book A COVID Tale, can you imagine? I am sure by now you have had enough of that word. My wife could not bear the sans of effort in creative imagination that I was showing in rather settling for a cliché title. I am not sure if you would have still picked up this book or perhaps you would have passed it with a sigh of annoyance deeply rooted in ‘COVID-19-fatigue’ but anyway, you are here, and I am glad that I have your ear. I pray that at the coda of this book it would have been worth every penny and time spent. Anyway, I decided to settle for a more apparent title, HOW do I DEAL with all of THIS?
After the busy and hectic schedules of the day, my wife and I religiously chit-chat from dusk into the murky night, enjoying the company of each other. Recently, our 7-month-old baby boy has joined the family chit-chat as well and he seems to be the loudest. I can tell that he has much to say, however we can barely make sense of what he is trying to say but am sure we will understand each other real soon. Usually, my wife and I talk about nothing important and nothing serious or life-changing but occasionally a noble idea and dream dawns upon us and in this case a dream to put together this book dawned upon us and weighed heavily in my heart.
I could not let this book idea pass me by or shelve it for a future that might not need it as much as today’s yearnings for encouragement that this book offers. Among the many manuscripts I have in preparation I am confident the timing for this book could not have been any more perfect and a year late would be a year too late. Those who know me know that I love people and passionately want to see them succeed and overcome the perils of life.
Although I have come to the brutal realization that you can never desire a better future for a person who does not want it and is rather too comfortable with the status quo and hang-up on an elusive and semi-glorious past. As unfortunate as that is, I will not tarry from loving and desiring the betterment of believers. Well, I guess you already know what am called to do, and I gladly answer the call to serve God and His people daily! This book is far from being driven by the need for revenue or publicity but rooted deep in the desire to see you my precious reader and everyone else reading this book, fight a good fight, finish the race, and keep the faith!
The whole world did not imagine that one day we would find ourselves locked down and restricted to our homes with a global economy on a near-halt. The fairytale of an alien invasion was more believable than the thought of a hostage situation caused by a virus given the enormous advances and strides, the scientific community has made thus far.
I suppose right there, God had a lesson to teach us, and that is, we can never put our trust in the chariots and horses of science and social detects but in Him and Him alone. After all, science is merely a tool and platform that is at best catching up with what God has already long created and allowed. Take it from a scientist who is so in love with God. Science is but feeble in dealing with humanity’s challenges compared to the All-powerful God, the Creator of heaven and earth. In simple terms, science is like a car mechanic who is trying to fix and figure out what the manufacture (God) did at inception.
The turmoil caused by this global pandemic is unprecedented and the long-term impact is unimaginable. Many families have buried loved ones without dignified sent-offs due to social distancing and restrictions on mass gatherings that are in place. I have had to say my goodbyes to loved ones too as the coffins were lowered while I was on the other side of video calls, robbed of comforting hugs and whispers of hope. As painful as the whole situation is, this does not come as a surprise to bible-reading believers because we know the word of God already states that times like these are inevitable.
We have chosen to partially believe the possibilities of such perilous times in our lifetime and thus many of us believers have been caught off guard and unprepared to respond and deal with these times. For many of us, we are in denial and often regressing into unbelief and hopelessness. Instead
