The B/C Custom ’41 Pickup
THE custom ’41 Ford pickup built by Berry & Chung in 1968 and shown within the Grahame Berry profile in the December ’20 NZ Hot Rod Mag, has recently been refurbished by Christchurch rodder Greg Hiddleston. But how did it get from there to here?
Grahame Berry and Dave Chung started with a ’41 Ford pickup. “This was to be a serviceable shop hack,” said GB in 1969. “It was only supposed to have a general clean-up! But one thing led to another until not one single panel remained stock!” It got chopped 4 inches, sectioned 8 inches, channelled 8 inches over a completely new box-section chassis constructed from scratch.
They also made the beautifully styled custom grille opening on the all-steel one-piece tilt front. GB recalls the tilt front weighed a ton! The resultant wild customising was a bright, sharp, funky elbow to the ribs to anybody happy with the stock bodied
