Meet Katie. She likes to explore nature. Katie likes to go for walks. Katie enjoys exploring. Outdoor play fosters children's intellectual, emotional, social and physical development. And by being outside and surrounded by nature, children experience an ever-changing and free-flowing environment that stimulates all the senses.
What did Kaite see? You may use this as a prompt to encourage your child to develop their observational skills and describe what they can see. Encourage your child to talk about colours, shapes and textures. Encourage your child to paint and create their own images of the items they find in nature.
There are many benefits of nature walks.
This is a very simple picture book. It shows the lovely collection of leaves that Katie sees.
This is a quick and show read.
This is a great way to introduce young children to nature before they go on a nature walk.

Once home, preschoolers can spread out their findings for further investigation and observation. Have them sort the objects by type, size, or colour. Have them line the objects up from biggest to smallest.
