Chapter 1

What Is Temptation?

Have you ever had a thought of desiring or wanting something or to be around someone that the thought was pressing upon your mind strongly to pursue what you were wanting or desiring, to make it happen in your life? Well, there is a difference between desiring something and lusting for something or someone. In this chapter, you will learn the difference between desiring and lust.

Although to have feelings of desire and want for someone or something are similar feelings with a person’s thoughts and heart, the two feelings are quite different. For instance, desire can be an innocent thought of interest and the idea of obtaining what you want by going through the necessary steps in a honorable manner to obtain what you would like to have such as a college education, a car, a new job, marriage, finances, your favorite meal, and other common things people in the world consider valuable, to obtain happiness and satisfaction in their lives.

It is okay to have a desire for something or someone in your life, as long as your desire does not lead you to sin against God, which is anything unrighteous. As a matter of fact, Jesus taught in the Bible from Matthew 6:33 (KJV), stating, But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Therefore, when people choose to live holy for God in righteous behavior with their heart and body, God will bless anyone with the things one has desired and prayed for of personal blessings.

Likewise, Psalms 37:4–5 (KJV) says, Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. Therefore, you can pray for God to give you things you desire such as a spouse, new car, finances, a house, and good health. What is equally important is to focus on desiring spiritual blessings from God first before material wealth, such as peace of mind, wisdom, and supernatural strength to overcome evil.

On the other hand, to lust for something or someone is a whole other thing, which can be dangerous because lust can be sinful. Lust is a strong feeling of craving, burning, appetite, wanting, and a passion to have something or someone in a unhealthy manner, which can lead to behavior that becomes out of control from a person to do something wrong in order to obtain what a person wants for his or herself. In fact, in Matthew 5:28 (KJV), Jesus taught, But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

This is important to understand because Jesus was teaching the danger of lust and why it is considered a sin to God. Therefore, if a person does not recognize and learn how to stop and defeat the spirit of lust, as a result, the lustful thought will grow into an unhealthy feeling that becomes a nagging urge and a mental and physical battle in a person’s mind to want to commit a wrongful act to satisfy (a want) the person is craving with the mind first, and later with the body. Then when that lustful feeling has developed in a person’s heart over time, this overwhelming feeling of pressure is what is known to be as temptation. Keep in mind, it’s already a bad thing to feel lust in the wrong way for something or someone; but when lust is not dealt with spiritually through the power of God, lust becomes dangerous in a person’s mind and heart, when it turns into a strong temptation to sin.

So what is temptation? Temptation is to feel mentally and physically drawn or pressured to want to practice wrong behavior, whether it is going to the wrong place or committing wrong behaviors toward oneself, someone else, and most importantly, against God.

Although to feel temptation is not necessarily considered a sin before God, it can become a sin if not recognized and dealt with properly through the power of God. What is more, temptation can also be a form of infatuation for something or someone. In other words, infatuation is a temporary feeling of admiring or a passionate feeling toward a person or a thing. When a person begins to struggle mentally with these feelings and emotions of infatuation, this can be toxic because it can lead to obsession, which is also the same as to feel lust for something or someone. Consequently, having a lingering emotion of lust is dangerous spiritually and sometimes fatal and life-threatening because a person who lacks the power of God will typically lose self-control over one’s life and get into a lot of trouble with wrong behaviors when one lacks the power of God to help one restrain one’s self from wanting to commit sin.

In addition, be aware and understand, there are also stages of temptation that can become a constant battle for humanity, that needs to be recognized and analyzed, in order to conquer.

The first stage of temptation begins with a thought in your mind to do something that can be harmful to you or someone you know. The thought often continues to come to your mind repeatedly, especially if this temptation has been forbidden from you and if you have not dismissed the thought from your mind. The second stage of temptation is curiosity. In other words, you can begin to have random thoughts that cause you to wonder if you are missing out on something that you think could make your life better or happier. Then the third stage of temptation is to meditate on the temptation. At this stage, you begin to believe you are missing something that you have wanted for a length of time; and if you are not careful, you will begin to think about the temptation all day, morning, noon, and night. Then the final stage of temptation is making the decision to yield to temptation.

So, when you do not resist to abstain from the temptation in your mind first, then your heart, you make a conscious decision to make plans for falling for the temptation. Afterward, the result can be harmful, or even deadly, spiritually or physically to you, or someone you know, when a temptation of wrong behavior is committed, which is a sin before God.

In addition, the Bible says from James 1:14–15 (KJV), But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Given these points, God wants you to understand that making the wrong choices will cost you punishment and judgment of consequences of sorrow happening to you when falling into any unrighteous temptation. Although God loves everyone, he does not love sin, and he judges sin. Therefore, it is for you to continue to learn and understand where temptation originated from and how to use the supernatural tools and strategies from God to equip you while you are on this earth, so you can take authority over any temptation in any area of your life, and to live free from mental and physical bondage of discontentment, and living a life of sin.

The next chapter will discuss how the first temptation started from the eternal realm in heaven, by one of God’s rebellious angels, leading to God’s judgment of fallen angels to the earth, causing the first man and woman God created to be a target to destroy on the earth. What is more, you will begin to understand how temptation of evil was introduced to humanity in the earth, that lead the world to go wild to sin.

Furthermore, you will gain revelation knowledge from God, with a spiritual perspective, the importance of not falling into the evil traps of your spiritual adversary, the devil; instead you will receive spiritual cleansing and altogether lose the desire to want to sin willfully against God and yourself, ever again. Furthermore, you will be empowered with supernatural strength from God, to live holy and stay on the path of righteousness as a lifestyle in God’s peace.

Chapter 2

Humanity’s First Temptation

Are you aware that there are three heavens God created? According to the Bible, the highest heaven is the third heaven, where the Trinity, the Three Persons of God reside: God the Father, God the Son Jesus, and God the Holy Ghost. For example, in Genesis 1:1 (KJV), it says, In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Comparatively, Genesis 2:1 (KJV) says, Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. Here, the Bible elaborates and distinguishes there was more than one heaven. The Bible later reveals the distinction of the heavens from one of the apostles, which you will learn about in the later chapters of reading this book.

Wherefore in eternity, from the third heaven, before earth was created with time, the Almighty God always existed with his heavenly angelic hosts, worshipping him and honoring his authority of holiness. The third heaven always had perfection and peace and the order of God. Consequently, one day, one of God’s cherub angels named Lucifer made a decision in his heart to try to exalt himself higher than his Creator, the Sovereign Almighty God. As a matter of fact, the Bible describes how evil was birthed into existence, from the angel Lucifer, when he was in the third heaven, and how his first rebellion against God, caused Lucifer, and a third of the angels, Lucifer tempted with evil, were eventually thrown from the third heaven, which changed the destiny of Lucifer, and his name to be called Satan, causing the humanity to be affected with sin later.

Comparatively, in chapter 28 of Ezekiel, a prince of Tyrus is judged the same way Lucifer was judged by God for trying to exalt himself above God. To illustrate, Ezekiel 28:1–2 (KJV) from Prophet Ezekiel states, The Word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God: Ezekiel speaks the judgment of God upon prince Tyrus, the same way Lucifer was judged, for trying to exalt himself above God. In fact, the Bible further illustrates, from Ezekiel 28:13–15 (KJV), saying,

Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee the day that thou wast created. Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

So before Lucifer became the devil, he also possessed worship instruments of music in his body, and God appeared to have appointed Lucifer to direct the praise and worship in heaven unto God, and not Lucifer himself. Then later, God found iniquity in Lucifer’s heart against him. To clarify, iniquity is wickedness and immoral behaviors and acts against holiness of God. What is more, Lucifer also introduced the first temptation of evil to some of the other angels in heaven to worship him as a God so that they would not worship the true Almighty God.

Further, Ezekiel 28:17–19 (KJV) describes prince Tyrus, the same as Lucifer, saying,

Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee. Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more."

As you can see, these scriptures also describe God’s anger toward Lucifer, who started the lineage of evil from pride and rebellion against God’s order of worship in heaven. The Most High God later puts a stop to Lucifer’s transgression against him because God was not going to allow Lucifer to disrupt his order in heaven.

In like manner, Isaiah 14:12–14 (KJV) states,

How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend to heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.

Here, when Lucifer allowed sin in his heart against honoring and worshipping God, Lucifer was kicked out of the third heaven, permanently by God, because of Lucifer’s sin of pride and disrespect against the most High God. What is more, Isaiah 14:15 (KJV) also says, Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. So the devil was thrown down into the lower parts of the earth, along with his followers (a third of the angels from heaven), who became demons. Since then, the devil carried great wrath in his heart toward God, and became determined to war against God’s principles of holiness, that was contrary to Satan’s rebellious ways of wickedness. This was also when the devil was thrown out into the second heaven known as outer space, the airways, and began to roam the air with his principalities, the demons, and began to organize his own lower demonic kingdom against God. Keep in mind, God permitted the devil to access this realm. Also be aware, the Bible later references to the devil as being the prince of the air, from the book of Ephesians second chapter in the New Testament.

Afterwards, God in his great infinite power, decided to expand his own holy family, by creating another heaven, also known as the first heaven called earth. This was the beginning of the creation of the human family. The earth was created by God for mankind to live and enjoy a life of spiritual holiness, peace, healing, and blessings, with all provisions for food, finances, and other basic needs people needed to enjoy life on the earth. However, the original plan for humanity, from God was altered, when after God created the first male and female on the earth known to be Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden many centuries ago, they disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden tree, God commanded them not to touch in the garden of paradise God gave them.

Consequently, the fall of the human race began from the influence of temptation to evil, from the devil, presenting himself as a serpent to Adam and Eve, in the beginning of the creation of the world, as he was permitted by God to access the first heaven called earth. Keep in mind, the devil was so furious with God for being kicked out of heaven and sent to roam outer space in the spiritual realm, and the lower parts of the earth. Then after humanity was created, the devil saw opportunity to try to get even with God, by attacking his new creation, starting with the first man and woman on the earth. Wherefore, the first temptation
