What is binge eating?
Most of us overeat every now and then and occasionally feel uncomfortable because we have eaten more than we needed. But people with a binge eating disorder regularly consume large amounts of food, even when they are not hungry, eating quickly and usually to the point of feeling overly full. And unlike those with bulimia, people with binge eating disorders rarely use compensatory behaviours such as vomiting, using laxatives or over-exercising after binge eating.
The two main features of binge eating are:
› Eating very large amounts of food within› And feeling a sense of loss of control while eating.
