    Photoshop Fundamentals - Steven Bright

    AUTHOR

    INTRODUCTION

Advance Photoshop projects with Step by Step processes and Procedures to help you refine and perfect your Photoshop skills.

With this book, you will master the Procedures for the use of Photoshop in the areas of Text Effects, Photo Effects, Photo Manipulations, Graphics Design, and Creating Animation.

One important thing if you are using Photoshop CS3 or CS4 is to make sure the installation option you select during the installation processes is Setup Photoshop (Extended). This is because the extended editions of Photoshop CS3 and CS4 have all the required supports for Photoshop animation creation. And you will also need to change the Workspace to Animation in order to work on animation projects. To do this, click on the drop-down menu list just before the Minimize button or where you have Workspace depending on the edition of Photoshop you are using and select Animation from the list. The next thing is to open the Animation Frame Window and to do this, go to the Window menu and click on Animation from the option list to open the Animation Frame Window.

If you need to acquire Photoshop basic skills and various Photoshop Tools practice and their uses to kick-start your Photoshop skills, then you will need to start out with Photoshop Manual: Introduction to Photoshop the book 1 to this book 2 (and final part) of the Photoshop manual book.

    TEXT EFFECTS

Text Effects (stylizing of texts) is a unique aspect of Photoshop typography. With Text Effects tools, you are able to stylize plain Photoshop texts into elegant and beautiful typography. These Text Effects tools are: Drop Shadow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss, Gradient Overlay, Color Overlay, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Satin, Stroke, and Pattern Overlay. The example below demonstrates the procedures for using these Text effect tools.

Click on Ctrl+N to open a new Photoshop document. Set its size to 450x300 pixels (width by height) and click the OK button.

Go to the Photoshop Toolbox and set the Foreground color to the color of your choice by clicking on the Foreground color tool, pick the color you want and then click the OK button (in this example it was set to green color.).

Click on the keyboard key G to pick the Paint Bucket Tool. If it is not the default tool there, right-click on the drop-down menu to access it. Once the Paint Bucket Tool is picked, just click on the document window to apply color to it.

Use the keys Ctrl+J to duplicate the background layer. A new layer Layer 1 will be created as you can see from the Layers palette under the Dock Panel at the right-hand side of the Photoshop environment and it is this layer you will now work on since it is now the active layer as indicated by the blue highlight over it.

Now set the Foreground color to White color by entering the code ffffff into
