    Chaffles

    INTRODUCTION

    What is a Chaffle

A Chaffle is a low-carb waffle alternative that tastes and has the texture of a regular waffle; crispy outside and chewy inside. The only difference between the two is that in addition to flour, it also contains eggs and cheese.

The word chaffle is a combination of two words; cheese, and waffles.  It is a waffle but with its base ingredients being shredded cheese and eggs, two special ingredients highly rich in protein and fats, but surprisingly low in carbs. This dietary combination is helpful to the body, promotes weight loss and helps control diabetes.

Chaffles are incredibly versatile and when paired with the right ingredients and seasoning, can be transformed into various healthy meals and snacks, suitable for all parts of the day.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does a Chaffle taste like?

Chaffles taste and have the texture of a regular waffle, crispy outside and chewy inside. They are amazing, and would have you feeling like you were cheating on your keto diet.

    Can you freeze Chaffles?

Yes you can, Chaffles can be stored in various in the freezer for up to 3 months. The most common method  used is by first arranging them neatly on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, placing the sheet into the freezer for 3-4 hours until chaffles are frozen solid, and afterwards, transferring the chaffles to a freezer safe bag or container until when needed.

What kind of cheese is best for making chaffles?

This is sn important question. My best cheese is mozzarella, finely shredded.  I like using this because it mixes up with the egg nicely. Yes, you can use other cheeses, but you should note that your choice of cheese should be about flavor! Do not use pre-shredded cheese as it contains additives.

How Do I Reheat my Chaffle?

Before you reheat your Chaffle, ensure they are not freezer burnt. Freezer burns occurs due to improper storage as a result of outside air getting in contact with stored frozen foods. Although safe to eat, food often becomes tasteless when reheated.  To reheat Chaffle, place in a toaster or an airfryer for a few minutes, and they get back to being nice and crispy again.

What’s the best kind of waffle maker to make chaffles?

The most popular way to make chaffles is on a mini waffle maker, and i know at a glance they look small and inefficient, but a mini maker has pretty deep holes, which makes the chaffles crunchy all over and is really beautiful! It’s so small and light, Easy to cook and easy to clean and takes up no space in my kitchen. The mini waffle maker also makes waffles that are thinner than your regular waffle maker. This translates to a perfect chaffle slice, crisp and golden brown.

This does not mean that other regular sized waffle makers are not good enough. It simply means that chaffles would be thicker, and would require more time to be crispy than your mini waffle maker.

Can I make Chaffles without a waffle iron?

Yes you can, the batter can be used to make pancakes and although it doesn’t quite get as fluffy as pancakes, it’s still has that crunchy crisp and great taste.

Can Eating Too Many Chaffles Cause Adverse Effects?

Generally, eating nothing but a category of foods over long periods are a bad idea. The keyword here is moderation. Understand your body and instead of eating only a category of foods, spend more time trying out and eating various low keto foods.

    CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE TIPS

    1. Do not submerge waffle maker in water

    2. Be sure the waffle maker has completely cooled before cleaning the plate with a damp cloth

    3. Use a non-scratch brush or sponge or even a toothbrush to gently removed hardened and stubborn baked-on batter mixture.

    4. Avoid hanging the cord over the edge of the table or countertop. It is advisable to not use an extension cord when using the plate, rather place close to a wall socket and use.

    5. Smoking may occur as a result of the waffle maker being coated in oils due to frequent use without cleaning, to help prevent this, clean device after use.

    HELPFUL COOKING TIPS

    1. As a rule never over fill the waffle maker, doing so results in uneven and poorly cooked food. The best alternative is to cook in batches when necessary.

    2. Do not lift the lid until the cooking time is complete (usually between 4-5 minutes). Lifting beforehand can cause chaffles to separate and stick to the waffle iron. You have to let it cook the entire 4 minutes before lifting the lid

    3. You can freeze them to keep them fresh; Store in a freezer bag with a piece of parchment paper in between each chaffle

    4.  For first time users, use a mini waffle maker instead of the standard bigger size, after enough experience has been gotten, move to the
