About this ebook

Perfect for Halloween, this is a hilarious story about a boy who follows in his father's footsteps . . . in his own monstrously unique way.

Just before midnight, on the night of a full moon, a young barber stays out past his bedtime to go to work. Although his customers are mostly regulars, they are anything but normal-after all, even monsters need haircuts. Business is steady all night, and this barber is prepared for anything with his scissors, rotting tonic, horn polish, and stink wax. It's a tough job, but someone's got to help these creatures maintain their ghoulish good looks.

This is a story of a boy who wants to be like his father, but instead of human customers he has monsters. This story has the boy sneaking off into the night and into his father's barber shop to cut hair. Several famous monsters come to the shop to get their haircut all before the morning sun. It is quite entertaining with seeing how he manages all the hair and the styles he chooses.

His clientele is a bit different from his father's though.... this young boy is a barber for the local monsters. Once a month, on the full moon, the town's monsters come in to get their hair, fur, and snakes trimmed and styled, because even monsters need haircuts! Summary: A story of a young boy, the son of a barber, who works the midnight shift cutting hair of all the resident monsters. He does this without anyone knowing except the monsters. At one point he thinks he has been caught when a gentleman knocks on the front door of the shop but once he gets in the door and in to the chair, he removes he head and everyone realizes he is also a monster.Personal Reaction: This was a fun imaginative story that little boys will love. They love all things monster and the play on words used in the book such as moon powder, tangling comb, and shamp-eeeewwww will be fun for the students to pick up on.Classroom Extension:1. This would be a fun book to read in the month of October when all things gross and goblin seem to fill the store shelves. It would take a little bit of the scary out of the whole monster thing for students.2. A fun activity might be to grow Bermuda grass in egg shells and let students "cut" their "monster's" hair or color it (paint) or style it with hair bows.
