About this ebook

Written by Scribd Editors

From poet Aimee Nezhukumatathil comes a debut work of nonfiction, World of Wonders, a collection of essays about the natural world, and the way its inhabitants can inspire, support and teach us.

As a child, Nezhukumatathil called many places home: the grounds of a Kansas mental institution where her Filipina mother was a doctor; the tall mountains of Arizona where she hiked with her Indian father; and western New York and Ohio. No matter where she moved and no matter how mismatched the fit or difficult the landscape, she could always look to our world’s amazing creatures for direction and guidance.

Nezhukumatathil is the author of four collections of poems. Her writing appears in Poetry, the New York Times Magazine, ESPN and Tin House. She is professor of English and creative writing in the University of Mississippi’s MFA program. Her World of Wonders appeared on the Chicago Public Library’s Best of the Best Book List and Kirkus Reviews Best Book of the Year/Arts and Culture Books in 2020.

Warm-hearted and with beautiful illustrations by Fumi Nakamura, World of Wonders is a joyous celebration of the natural world.
