Finding Peace in A Restless World - G. Charles

    Introduction

THESE ARE MOMENTOUS times! Humanity has never been so blessed and yet so cursed. Within the last few decades, humankind has taken giant leaps, moving the world forward in major spheres of human experience. We have landed on space, decoded the human genome, created AI humanoid robots, invented the computer, and developed many life-changing technologies. We have learned to produce more food, build better infrastructure, protect human rights, and improve our chances of survival.

However, it has not all been plain sailing. Human activity is also wreaking havoc on the planet, and humanity is facing existential threats and enormous challenges on multiple fronts. The coronavirus has become one in a long list of trials, troubles, and travails afflicting our world. Peace is now a scarce commodity that is getting increasingly difficult to find in many hearts, homes, communities, and countries.

This revolutionary little book is loaded with information that is guaranteed to touch your heart and transform your life. It addresses many of the critical issues impacting our world and affecting our lives; some of these are thought-provoking and might strike some raw nerves!

Importantly, this book will show you how to find true peace and lasting serenity amid the crisis and chaos all around us. It is an inspiring piece that will challenge you to exercise your God-given dominion over the earth and to live a meaningful and fulfilling life, instead of leaving yourself vulnerable to life’s vicissitudes. You will gain insights into how to:

use the power in the Blood to protect yourself and your household from the coronavirus

    find peace and maintain tranquillity

    overcome harmful and destructive thoughts

    walk in dominion and victory

fulfil your destiny and make a difference in the world

Chapter One – THE CORONAVIRUS AND A WORLD IN CRISIS

    No community can insulate

    itself by isolating itself from

    the rest of humanity

THE CORONAVIRUS IS changing the world. The virus is indiscriminately infecting everyone, and the pandemic is affecting everything. Men, women and even children who were supposedly safe are all succumbing to its devastating effects. Social position has not shielded any, and geographical location has been no barrier. From America to Australia, Covid-19 (Corona Virus Disease 2019) is on the rampage, breaching borders, and crippling nations in the Global South and all over the Global North.

While the coronavirus disease may not be the great leveller that some are projecting it to be, it has succeeded in levelling the playing field in a very significant way. Paupers and presidents are facing the same enemy, and the rich are having to use the same tools that are available to the poor. We are all ‘locked in’, and there is no escape flight going out of town to safety. One good thing the crisis is leaving us with is the lesson that we are all one, irrespective of colour, gender, race, ethnicity, or social differences. No one is an island; whatever concerns you may eventually affect me. No country or community can insulate itself by isolating itself from the rest of humanity; the world is indeed a global village. Anything that affects one affects everyone.

We must work to promote the collective good. If we damage the economy of the East, it may affect the financial health of the West. If we allow the North to remain backward, it might slow down the progress of the South. If we trample on the rights of minorities, it could jeopardise the peace of the majority. If we exploit poor factory workers in the developing world, countries in the developed world will see more refugees. If we create unrest, destabilise governments, and promote wars in the Middle East, we might see more terrorists and fundamentalists in the West. If we pull down China, it will affect the global economy. If we tear down Europe, America, and Western civilisation, humanity and the entire world will suffer. If the rich and powerful create inequality and build fences to isolate themselves from the poor, we might live to contend with anarchy. It is in your interest to work for my good, and it is in mine to support yours.

The rich must help to enrich the lives of the poor. The poor should not work to destroy the wealthy. The powerful must help to strengthen the weak; the weak should not strive to undermine the strong. We are in the world for a relatively limited time, ‘For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away’(James 4:14); no one is going to live on this planet forever. While here, we must allow our candles to burn to give light to others:

    ‘Ye
