The Gospel of Jesus in Simple English
()
About this ebook
The Gospel of Jesus in Simple English tells how the message of Jesus is the power of God to change the lives of those who become Believers in him. The author uses common English words to tell this story. And that is why he chose the Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) of the Bible for all quotes.
People who are drawn by the Holy Spirit to the story of the Cross sometimes find roadblocks in their way. Sometimes it is the mistaken belief they must know all there is to know about Jesus and the Christian religion in order to be saved. Sometimes they are derailed by all the conflicting denominational creeds. Sometimes people who are desperate for hope and purpose are discouraged by the lives of some existing church people who themselves seem hopeless and without direction. And sometimes searchers are discouraged by all the fighting and fussing between different Christian groups.
This book helps the searcher keep his or her eyes on what really matters. And that is not on church creeds, denomination traditions, family fights or windy TV evangelists. The author of this book encourages each reader to pay attention to Jesus himself. That is what counts.
This book shows exactly how sinners in the first century responded to the Gospel story. The first day the whole idea was explained, right there in Jerusalem, and over 3,000 believed it. They were told to turn away from their evil ways, to be baptized in the name of Jesus, and that they would receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit himself to help them grown in the grace and knowledge of God and his ways. Since then, that simple message has moved millions other searchers to a saving faith in Jesus Christ.
In addition, this book states that the only message which can change one’s life is the Gospel (“Good News”) that salvation is available through Jesus and his work of sacrificing himself on the cross for our sins. A sinner cannot earn his salvation in any way. You cannot be saved by some mystical do-it-yourself plan. Salvation is only possible by a deep-seated belief that Jesus of our Lord (or Master) and our Savior.
It discusses how God is “One,” but with three distinct personalities – God the Father (Jehovah), God the Son (Jesus) and God the Holy Spirit. The author explains that the Bible (Word of God) is an “Owner’s Manual” from God, showing how his love and mercy have always required a response from the one looking for him.

It presents several ideas for Believers (especially new Christians) to love Jesus tomorrow even more than he or she does right now. There is also a long list of useful resources

The family moved west the year after his birth and he grew up on ranches and farms where his father worked in southern California. One of those places where Harold Paregien worked was the Newhall Ranch, a corporate ranching and farming operation that stretched for miles either side of the highway from the towns of Newhall (now Santa Clarita) to Piru. Stan was already in love with anything cowboy, mostly by watching those great B-Westerns at the local movie theaters. And then on the Newhall Ranch (officially known as the Newhall Land & Farming Company) he and his sister Roberta acquired horses and rode happy trails all over the ranch.Paregien graduated from high school in 1959 at Fillmore, Calif. He married Peggy Ruth Allen from nearby Ventura, Calif., in 1962. They immediately moved to Nashville, Tennessee for Stan to study Speech Communication (and history and Bible) at Lipscomb University. He graduated in 1965. In 1968, he received his master’s degree from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Then he completed all 60-hours of the classwork toward a Ph.D. in Speech Communication at the University of Oklahoma (but did not complete his other requirements). His hobby since 1990 has been writing and performing cowboy poetry and stories. He performed at the annual National Cowboy Symposium in Lubbock, Texas for a total of some 25 years. Through it all, he has been and is a freelance writer and author. He prefers just calling himself a "storyteller" in the tradition of Mark Twain, Louis L'Amour, Elmer Kelton, Garrison Keillor, Ansel Adams, Norman Rockwell, J. Frank Dobie, Agatha Christie and others. Sometimes he tells stories through narration, sometimes through poetry and often through photography.Stan and Peggy have two adult children, Stan Paregien Jr who lives with his family in the St. Louis area; and Stacy Magness who lives with her family near College Station, Texas. Our Target Audience
This Simple English
book is aimed at all those who speak English. That audience is almost too large to comprehend.
So, primarily, the folks we want to reach are native English speakers. That group is an extremely large number, as well. That includes such people in this list of nations:
The United States of America, the United Kingdom (in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland), Canada, Australia, Republic of Ireland, and New Zealand.
Those are the big ones. But it also includes the countries and territories of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, the British Indian Ocean Territory, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Dominica, the Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guam, Guernsey, Guyana, the Isle of Man, Jamaica, Jersey, Montserrat, the Pitcairn Islands, Saint Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the United States Virgin Islands.
And to break it down even further, we have designed this book specifically for English speaking people who have limited knowledge or understanding of the Christian faith. I like to think of it as one person introducing a friend to another friend. In this case, it means that I have the honor of introducing you, my readers, to my friend and Savior – the Lord Jesus Christ.
So, we take a moment to just say a friendly "Hello" those folks . . . and to the thousands of others who don’t fit into those categories. Thank you for taking the time to explore this little book. By design, there are only about 50 pages of text. It contains the soul-saving essentials of the Gospel. And it is presented in plain, simple English.
Happy reading.

Chapter 1
Introduction
Many people today have a burning desire in their hearts to improve their lives and find God. They have a deep need to find their spiritual roots. They long for a solid standard of morality. They want this themselves. They also want it for their children and grandchildren.
However, many people are frustrated in that search. They can’t unravel all the complicated religious terms they encounter. They are confused by so many church divisions. They can’t understand all the wordy denominational creeds. They are weary of organized religion’s demands that they be in attendance every time the church doors open. They can’t keep up with all the fads or gimmicks which church growth experts push on them. It all smacks of hyper voodoo religion.
Whew. Where is the simple Christian life when you need it?
Heck, no wonder so many searchers just give up. They just plod along. They live quiet lives of hopelessness.
Hold on. There is some really good news.
God wants to change all that for you. He loves you. He is searching for you. You can find God’s will for your life. You can easily understand the basic gospel message. Our goal is to tell you all you need to know in order to become a Christian. And we want to tell you in clear, simple English.
Think about this. Almost everyone today will spend at least three or four hours a day watching sports, talk shows, reality shows or movies on TV. Right? Sure.
Okay, then, we promise to keep each sharing session (i.e., chapter) as short as possible. That’s our part of the deal. And, as your part, will you promise to really focus on this material for that brief time?
You have gotten this far into this book because you are a searcher, right? But if you don’t focus your attention, you just can’t find God’s blessing that are waiting for you.
Made your decision?
Now, friend, if you did not commit to reading this book with an open attitude and a focused mind, . . .
