About this ebook

Life is not a bed of thorns, and most of the times, we assume that we are steeped in problems like no one else. But, life truly is bliss, a unique gift bestowed on each one of us by this universe. Instead of conditioning ourself to be in a normal and natural state of happiness, we tutor our minds to do the opposite, and make things tough for us.

Life is short, and each one of us are here to play it to our best - and win -by winning, not just material success, but much more than that - a meaningful, self-determined and wonderful journey, where every day is an adventure of sorts, and an encounter one small step towards a little more learning and wisdom.

Every page or topic touched upon in the pages of this book has the thought or the seed for a thought, which could have a positive impact on life, irrespective of what stage it is in at present

Happiness Beckons You - Muralidharan Dhanapalan

    Preface

The problem with most of us is – we take life, rather too seriously. Seldom do we live in the present moment, making the best out of the now. We constantly brood on how the past could have been much better, and how the future is scary, loaded with fear of the unknown.

This has no value addition to us, or anyone who is around us. All this habit or tendency of not being in the present does is – to take away precious moments from the present, and also from what can be a simple and energy filled journey. When we say energy, we are speaking of positive, and life creating energy.

The assumption that life is something very complex, and is bound to be filled with challenges and problems is very flawed. We build our everyday and months based on such a flawed notion, which results in our filling the mind with mistaken notions of how tough life is, and how you are chosen to be showered with problems and miseries, all over!

It’s all in the mind, than in reality. For a moment, just do a flip switch in the mind, and start seeing how good things are, and how you have been blessed with the best despite one or two minor problems akin to hiccups and nothing more. Such a perspective is pretty easy to gain, with our training the mind to take things pretty easily, and in its stride.

What we need lot of times is not some unprecedented breakthrough or learning about some new life wisdom, that will alter our life. Many books and works do promise such earth shattering shift in the way life happens, once you read, grasp and begin to practice what is told in its pages. It is for the discerning reader in you to really find out if such things can happen when you read a book.

The author in me is of the firm belief that, if taken in a sportive stride, life is easy, fun, and everything that happens easily manageable. Viewing things and occurrences in a proper perspective is by itself half the problem solved, and the rest is handled with ease, with a mind that is free from unnecessary thoughts, and ruminations.

This book is made of small nuggets that will help in looking at life from a simpler and no-hassles perspective. You can chose to go through in order of the pages, or chose to read anywhere you feel. What you read in the following pages is an attempt is to give life tips in bite-sized chunks!

Every topic is an insight and perspective. Your life will be a shade better, by either imbibing the nuggets in any page, or in case you are following that already, reinforces the positive practice. To re-iterate, every page or topic touched upon in the pages of this book has the a seed for a thought, which could have a positive impact on your life, irrespective of what stage you are in the present.

    Perfection perils

Many of us tend to suffer our self from this – the perils of perfection. There is nothing wrong in aspiring to be perfect in things that really matter in life. But many times, being perfect becomes an excuse not to accomplish things in life – saying I will either do it perfectly, or rather not do it at all.

These, and stuff like these are what we could call perils of perfection. Some people get so much obsessed with them and those others being perfect, so much so that it gets to the point of getting immobilized – and also immobilize others, in what they want to do in the normal course.

On their part, some of our extended families, and even the society we live in, peers, and claimant life coaches advocate this myth of a perfect life, or being perfect in every single thing you do.

To repeat, there is nothing wrong in attempting perfection in the things we endeavor – the fact remains that only when we aspire and set the bar high, would be probably do our best in things we do – making us do good. The problem increases when we become prisoners to the demand of so called perfection.

In reality, there are just a handful of things that have a high stake for perfection. Take for example, computer programming, rocket launch codes, watch making and stuff like this, where the end product hinges on sheer perfection.

Other than these, there aren’t many things – mainly human things – where perfection matters so much at all. It’s just the plain and easy talk we do amongst peers by comparing kids and people – see how perfect he or she is, how they do things perfectly et al – talk that only hampers the quality of thoughts, and in fact, quality of life too.

Most problems in real life situations occur, when we apply the rules of perfectionism in an inappropriate fashion, just for the heck of it. Being a compulsive perfectionist with your spouse, kids, workplace, colleagues, your wardrobe and your desktop – is so much waste of precious time in life. So much so, that such senseless obsession becomes an excuse for not doing things. In some cases, this even leads to many important things in life not done at all, impacting the quality of life, of not just you, but people around too.

The life of a perfectionist is seldom a life of happiness. One is because they are mostly chasing ideal stuff in the name of getting to perfection. They are almost always at odd with themselves, because they are not measuring up to their own high expectations. Even worse, is life for those around – be it family, friends’, colleagues, and the eco-system at large also becomes tough owing to the persons holding the myth of perfection close to the chest.

So, be prudent – never make the mistake of chasing perfection. Chase happiness instead – that could transform things to good, for you and for all those around you too.

    Happiness isn't a sin.

Are there often times in life, when being happy gives you jitters, and after a few moments of being happy, you are forced to switch to an unhappy mode, which for historical reasons, you think is a normal state of mind?

If this is close to reality, you don't need to worry about it at all. You are just a part of the larger tribe that has been taught to believe happiness isn't normal. Thanks to
