Personal Growth
1: Encounter at the Well
"The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming’ (who is called Christ). ‘When He comes, He will tell us all things.’ Jesus said to her, ‘I who speak to you am He’" (John 4:25-26).
Jesus engaged the Samaritan woman in a conversation. This encounter took place at a well. She was a sinful woman, and Jesus read her mail.
He knew all about her, but He did not despise her as most Jews despised Samaritans, whom they called half-breeds.
We know her as the woman at the well.
It is not surprising that the conversation was about water. Jesus not only revealed Himself to her as the Living Water but as the Messiah! Her expectation was future, but the Messiah was right in front of her!
On the morning of May 4, 2015, I also had an encounter with the Messiah. While struggling with a problem, I prayed, Lord, speak to me.
Then I opened my Bible, and my eyes fell on John 4:26, the words of the woman at the well and Jesus’ answer - I who speak to you am He.
Just as He spoke to her, He was speaking to me! I marveled! He had definitely answered me! I wrote what I sensed He wanted me to know.
I WHO SPEAK
I who speak to you am He.
Drink in My presence with eyes to see.
Let Me hold you very near,
I will take away your fear.
I will charge you with new life,
Filled with peace and not with strife.
Easy, easy – breathe
