Conclusion
Introduction
When you are looking to improve your health and lose weight, there are a multitude of options that you are able to pick from in terms of diet and eating plans. All of them are going to promise to be the best results for you, but not all of them are going to deliver on the results that they promise. But one option that you may not have tried before, and which can provide you with all the health benefits and weight loss that you need, is intermittent fasting.
Intermittent fasting is a bit different than some of the other diet plans that you may have tried in the past. Instead of worrying as much about the type of foods that you eat and don’t eat (although it encourages you to stick with a healthy eating habits as much as possible), you will focus more on the times of days that you eat. The goal is to restrict your eating window, allowing you to have time to get into a fasting state that speeds up your metabolism and makes it harder to overeat because you don’t get as much time to eat as before.
There are many different options that you can choose when it comes to an intermittent fast, which makes it easy for everyone to add into their own lifestyle. Everyone will find a method that works the best for them, and you can still get the results that you want. This guidebook will take the time to explore more about intermittent fasting, the benefits that come with this type of eating schedule, the exercise plan that you can follow, and the different methods that you can choose from.
The ideas behind intermittent fasting is simple to follow and provides some great results, which is why so many people have chosen to go on this kind of eating plan. This guidebook is going to go into some of the details that you need to ensure you can get the most benefits out of your own intermittent fast today!
Chapter 1: What is Intermittent Fasting?
There are a lot of dieting fads out there. Some claim that you need to follow a low fat diet and fill up on lots of tasty complex carbs. Some ask you to go the other way and cut down on your carb intake, focusing mostly on the healthy proteins and fats to help you stay energized. There are diets for juicing and detox, some that focus mostly on fresh produce, and everything in between. The one thing that these all have in common is that they recognize the typical American diet is failing us.
There are a ton of things wrong with the typical American diet. We eat foods that are processed, come from a fast food restaurant, and have a ton of unnatural ingredients that can make us sick. Add onto this that we often eat them in large amounts so we are taking on way too many calories, and it is no wonder the average American is dealing with a whole host of health problems. All those extra calories head straight to the waistline and can cause us to gain weight, and gain a bunch of other health problems.
One method that has shown to be really helpful in fixing this problem is known as intermittent fasting. It works against the commonly held practice that a person needs to eat five or six meals each day to help them be healthy. There are a ton of plans out there that promote this as a way to keep your metabolism burning fast. But in reality, your metabolism is not going to burn any faster with these meals. As long as you eat enough calories to keep it going, it is more about how much you eat rather than how many times a day you eat.
When you get started on an intermittent fast, you will concentrate on moving your eating periods into smaller windows that are more manageable. With the typical American diet, it is common to eat from the moment you get up until it is time to go to bed. Sixteen hours a day to eat can bring in a ton of calories, and it really isn’t necessary. There are a variety of options that you can choose to help you pick your eating window, but they will all be a drastic reduction compared to the eating schedule you were on before.
With a good intermittent fast, your day is split up between two time periods. You will have your fasting period. During this time, you are not allowed to eat anything. You will need to reduce your consumption to water, coffee, and some other noncaloric beverages. If you are on the 5:2 diet (which we will explain a bit later), you can eat up to 500 calories during your fasting day.
Then there is the second part of your day, the eating window. This is the time when you are allowed to eat meals and enjoy yourself. You can technically eat whatever you wish, but if you want to get the weight loss and health benefits, you will aim to eat nutritious and balanced meals as much as possible.
While you can eat what you would like on an intermittent fast during your eating window, it is important to remember that if you want to lose weight or really improve your health with this eating plan, you need to make sure that you control your portions, pick out healthy foods, and watch what you eat. You can technically eat whatever you want during that eating window, but if you are going to eat a bunch of bad stuff and junk, then you are going to miss out on the health and wellness benefits that come with this kind of diet plan.
Despite what many people think when they first get started on an intermittent fast, this is actually a pretty easy eating plan that you can enjoy. You don’t have to put in a lot of planning ahead of time, unless you want to go on a different diet plan along with this one. And after you go through a few weeks on this eating plan, you are going to enjoy it, be pretty used to it, and feel better with lots more energy than before.
Intermittent fasting is going to work differently than other diet plans. Most other plans focus on the foods that you are supposed to eat each day. They make up a lot of rules about which foods to eat and which you should avoid. They can sometimes be effective, but they often have so many rules with them that it is hard to stick to one.
With intermittent fasting, you are encouraged to eat healthy and wholesome foods, with maybe a few splurges in between, but it is more about the schedule of eating that you follow. You will spend your time focusing more on the times that you eat your meals, rather than everything that is in your meal. You won’t have to follow so many rules about your diet and what you eat. If you can separate your day into times of eating and times of fasting, and you make sure that the fasting period is long enough and your eating period is short enough that you aren’t eating all day long, and you can keep your meals fairly healthy, you will see results when you go on an intermittent fast.
