About this ebook
"Health is not just an absence of disease. The word health comes from the word 'whole.' When an individual human being feels complete physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, that is when health is." - Sadhguru
With the advent of modern technology, a certain level of comfort and convenience has come into people's lives that those living hundred years ago could only dream of. Despite that, unfortunately the mechanics of health has eluded us. While many countries measure their GDP in trillions of dollars today, unfortunately the same can be said about their national health care bills.
Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, prominent cardiac surgeon and founder of the Narayana Hrudayalaya hospitals, probes Sadhguru on the issue of human health. Far from being a dry diagnosis of health care, the dialogue delves into the realms of the mystical with questions on destiny and the role of a doctor, as well as its connection to congenital illnesses. Other questions deal with the power of human contact, the necessity of invasive medical interventions and unlocking the potential of the mind.
In Mechanics of Health, Sadhguru looks at the fundamentals for creating health in the body, not just as a temporary relief from illnesses but as a natural state of being.

Question: As a doctor, as a surgeon we are involved with major surgical interventions. Unfortunately in our business, this is the only business in the world where a customer can die. However much ever you try dissociating ourselves when we are operating, we need to concentrate and do the job.
But what comes to our mind is the young wife, young children waiting outside. The margin of error is very small, few millimeters here and there. Then you think about its consequences on them. Then you start thinking about when you are a kid, if something happens to your father, where you would have been.
We are after all human beings. We are always torn between what we do to somebody and what could have happened to our own life. It's a constant tension and how do we overcome it? I've been in this profession for more than thirty years still I haven't yet mastered the art of dissociating myself from the patient's life.
Sadhguru: Yes. When you are given a certain responsibility which could determine the shape and scope of people's lives, it's a big thing to carry on one’s shoulders. But the important thing is that somebody has chosen to place such a responsibility in our hands. It's a tremendous privilege. If we execute it, we can do the best or we can never do the best. But we can do the best always with life. Is it the best? No. We are doing our best.
If we lack in that, then we have a serious problem. But if we're doing our best in everything that we do, we know it is
