    CHAPTER ONE

That very Saturday is a day I will never forget. I had waited all week long to visit my mum at the hospital on that very day. Mother had been sick for a while. She was so frail the last time I saw her lying in the hospital bed but she still had that her magical smile for me. I could smell plantain being fried in the kitchen. Fried plantain is my favourite food. I got up happily from my bed sure that the day would be my best day ever.

'You can all cry', said daddy. I looked up at him as he said this. What he just said sounded strange to me. My brother, Izu, was present. He is the youngest of us all. He had always been told not to cry when he hurts. They always said that he was a boy and that boys don't cry.
