"Turnabouts" are darling little quilts that do double duty. Drape them over items to see two delightfully different sides! One end of each 12" x 24" quilt shows off a single block, while the opposite end features a four-block arrangement. Simply turn the quilts this way or that to suit the scene. Jan's charming quilts feature a happy blend of seasonal and everyday motifs to display. And the applique? Jan's carefree folk-art style embraces imperfection, inviting quilters to just have fun--on the double!

About the Author

It’s no surprise to those who know me that I love to appliqué. I enjoy starting each morning drinking a hot cup of coffee from my favorite mug while I sit and stitch a bit of appliqué. It’s truly soothing to my soul.

What’s particularly fun about the appliqué pieces in this book is that each one is small. They don’t take a lot of time or materials to make—and I bet you can find pretty much all the supplies you’ll need in your sewing room. What’s more, each one is a whimsical little folk-art piece where perfect is overrated. There’s no need to feel that your skills aren’t up to snuff. Just pick up a needle and thread and get started!

Finally, what’s really unique about these little quilts is the reason they’re called turnabouts. They’re designed to drape over a quilt stand so you can see both sides. Each side is a quilt unto itself. Turn them this way or that to suit your mood. Or choose a different type of display method, such as a cupboard door, an old window frame, a vintage spinning wheel, or whatever strikes your fancy. That’s just what we did when photographing some of the quilts
