I mean, I knew that The Last Olympian would be my favorite of this series, but I also really didn’t expect the emotional whomping. The willow totally snuck up on me is all I can say. Rarely is a book full of so much ow my feels and dawwwww all at once. So yeah, I guess I have to formally thank Debby for forcing me to give this series another chance, because she was totally right.The Last Olympian starts, literally, with a bang. Up to now, the Percy Jackson novels have had to build up to the drama and danger, but this time it starts there and doesn’t let go. The pace of this one manages to be even faster than that of the previous novels, which weren’t slow reads themselves. The Last Olympian is the darkest of the series by far, but manages to maintain a mood that works for middle grade readers. Riordan keeps that trademark humor flowing, though it does smack a bit more of the gallows this go round. Personally, I’m a big fan of books that can make me laugh even at the darkest times and I think it makes the moments when nothing is funny pack that much more of an emotional punch.I wouldn’t say no one is safe in a Rick Riordan novel. It’s not quite Game of Thrones in terms of death and destruction. However, I would definitely say that not everyone is safe. Of course, this is already well-documented, but it gets more emotionally painful this time. I really didn’t see it coming, but this book almost made me cry TWICE. Once from the sads and once from the happies and holy hell what are feelings ouch. Considering that it’s middle grade, The Last Olympian is considerably dark and I consider myself satisfied with the end results.The characters really shine in this one. The world building is still masterful, but wasn’t really being developed at the pace of the previous novels (since hello that’s sort of done now and there’s a war going on), so I really had time to focus in on the characters. Obviously I loved a bunch of them already, but some that I didn’t know I cared for suddenly meant so much to me. How did Riordan do this to me? The rather massive cast is so well-developed. Each of the gods have their own personality as do the children. You can even see the influences of the godly parents on the kids, while also seeing the way they are completely their own beings, which is basically the whole point of the series.The ultimate messages of the series are so powerful and touching. In a lot of ways, Percy is not the hero. He’s not the smartest or the most powerful. I don’t even know if he’s the bravest. I sort of think he’s actually just the biggest, most optimistic idiot. I suspect Percy’s tragic flaw is that he would do anything to protect others, but I think it’s his greatest strength too. Percy has so much compassion, more even than he realizes. At this point, I want to talk about some specific spoilery things I love, so into the spoiler tags, I go.Some things that I love about the way this book ended:1) Percy is not the hero of prophecy, which YAY. There have been too many prophetic heroes, and I love the way that fiction is constantly overturning this trope now.2) As a side note, I ADORE the fact that pretty much every character of note got a chance to shine. It’s not the Percy Jackson show. He has his moments, more than most even, but also we’re in his head so he can’t see everything.3) I love that the gods are changing and learning.4) Not only that, but the biggest help that Percy and Nico were to the war effort was, ultimately, in convincing their parents to focus on what truly matters.5) The fact that Percy’s wishes are so non-selfish: he wants every kids to be recognized and all the minor gods to get the respect due to them. AND NICO GETS A CABIN.6) I’m glad that even Luke was still redeemable, even if I am glad that he died. Best of luck in the next life, though, kid.7) Though I’m sad about the life Rachel has chosen, I’m glad that she chose it and didn’t go that route because she was sad about the way her romance was going. Also, I love that she’ll still be around.8) Finally, I think it’s hilarious how much Demeter wants everyone to eat cereal.My sole lingering grumble is the summer thing. Like, okay, Camp Halfblood operates in the summer ideally, but there was a war on. I find it really hard to believe that Kronos would wait for the campers to finish out their school years to make his big attack. Let’s wait until the enemy is in place before attacking; everyone knows Kronos likes fights to be as fair as possible. Yeah, right. Plus, Kronos’ forces are stronger at night, which there is less of in the summer. I feel like the story’s a bit too strongly tied to its summer schedule for its own good in this case, but everything else is right on target.Oh right, did I forget something? The romance. I will climb on board that ship with everyone else. *throws champagne bottle at the good ship Percabeth* I still love Rachel and that totally could have been okay with me too, but obviously this was going to be the ship and it’s all for the best. I do find it impressive that Riordan manages to sell Annabeth being more charmed by Percy than annoyed by his more than occasional slowness. She appreciates him for who he is, and he her, which is a good ship when you come right down to it. Poseidon grant them calm seas.My heart was dashed on the rocks and lifted up on the waves. Strange things happen when you put the son of Poseidon in charge. I’m going to be reading the next series soon, after a brief break, and I am so excited. Leave spoilers for that series and you will be sent directly to Tartarus.

      As the series comes to an end the suspense still grows. As I hated to come to the end I cannot spoil it for others Its a wonderful series I would recommend to others.

      As one might expect, all of the hanging plot threads, character issues, and conflicts left over from the previous books featuring Percy Jackson all culminate in The Last Olympian the final volume of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. While many series experience something of a let down in their final act, as the author struggles to bring his carefully laid plots to a satisfying conclusion, happily The Last Olympian avoids this problem and finishes off this excellent young adult series with a strong story and in a manner that is both unpredictable and yet fully in character for all the participants.Following the attack on Camp Half-Blood in The Battle of the Labyrinth, Kronos had retired to rally his forces, but also set various plans in motion. After an awkward interlude with plot complication Rachel Dare, the book opens with Percy, along with the demigod Beckendorf (a child of Hephaestus), heading off to try to destroy Kronos' cruise ship of the damned and weaken the forces of the Titans. Although the series has had its share of lethal consequences before - Bianca di Angelo's death, Daedalus' death, and so on, the book signals that things will be getting rough for the final act when Beckendorf becomes the first of the half-bloods to meet his end a scant handful of pages into the story.[More forthcoming]

      The last of the Percy Kackson books, and Riordan saved the best for last. THis tale of Percy's cumlination of the prophecy that has hung over his head since book one comes to a head, as does the long leadup to the fight with the Titans. Old friends, new surprises, and a lot of imagination and incredible creativity make this book what I feel is the best in the series. No spoilers here, you have to read it, but a few hints - the Percy, Rachel, Annabeth issue works itself out - in ways you'd never EVER imagine, and Percy, well, lets just say the boy has got nerves of steel when it comes to some things, and he really ins't liked too much for it.

      Review: The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series by Rick RiordanI was immediately hooked to this AMAZINGLY AWESOME series. The storyline was fun, original, and surprisingly accurate to the original myths. My knowledge of Greek mythology is VERY limited, but after researching some things I didn't remember, it turns out Riordan knows his stuff! After a while, I began to trust him.The first time I saw Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief I thought I looked terrible but after I read the first 3 pages i feel in love with it.The most AMAZEBALLS book in my opinion is the last book, The Last Olympian, was the perfect ending to a superb series. It made up for the last book with powerful passages and gripping action. I was flipping pages as fast as I could read them. I couldn't wait to see what would come of the prophecy, who would win in the last major battle, and what would happen to Percy. I was sucked in.The battle scenes and action were non-stop. It comes close to the Battle of Hogwarts for my favorite fictional battle of all-time. I loved the scenes in New York City. But more than anything else, I LOVE how Riordan brought his series to a close. The answer to the prophecy was perfect and fitting to the growth and change Percy underwent throughout the series. I couldn't have asked for a more satisfying ending.So if you have been avoiding this series thinking they won't be any good, or that they're silly, or that they're trying too hard, I LITERALLY think your are crazy, but apart of that acusation I think you need to start reading this second! I found them full of fun, action,suspense, the smallest bit of romance and LOTS of fantastic greek mythology.I have read this series about 3 times and NEVER got sick of them once. To rap it up I LOVE YOU PERCY JACKSON!!!! :P

      This was the best one yet. Satisfying ending, suspenseful, absolutely perfect for kids grades 4 (avid readers) through 8. My 7th and 8th grade male students are particularly into it now, which surprised me. Anyway, I recommend the series for that age group only, but then again, adults actually obsess over Harry Potter, so who am I to say.

      The Titan's army is stronger then ever. With some god, half-blood, and Titan's army fighting there hardest. The Olpians have to stop the monster Typhon. Kronos marches up to Mount Olympia knowing the it is unguarded. Percy Jackson with a young and small army demigods have to guard and stop kronos from getting to Mount Olympia. Percy and the small army destroy the army but typhon is this on the run and is really close to the Mount Olympia. Lucky Poseidon came in the nick of time with an army of cyclopes tie Typhon down for good. Percy, by the God, was ask what he want. Anything! Even to be a god. Percy refused and said You have to promise me on the River Styx. The god stunned promised. Percy ask to prepare there son and daughters by taking them to the camp. The gid stunned again said yes.I really like this book because I like the gods and ancient greece. I like the creatures like satyrs and pegasuses. The author is a great writer. I really enjoyed the book. Like the hunger games It was a page turner. I love authors that write just the right words that it is in detail but without super hard words. I encourage this book to people who just need a book to read. This book is on my list of book that I love.

      For me, this book and The Lightening Thief are the best books in the series, still it did come to a satisfactory conclusion. The story line was good and steadily paced, the characters stayed true to the ones we'd come to know. Overall I liked it. I would recommend this book and series. 5 out of 5 stars.

      Omg i didnt expect that too happen Percy wasnt the one in the profecy........... like really after all of the stuff percy went throuh and it wasnt him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but still it was the best book i ever read so yeah i recomend this book to every singe person this book is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      The Last Olympian? Not who you think.The last book in the series? Not exactly.Fans of Percy Jackson will likely enjoy this last chapter in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and be glad to read that a continuing series is in the works, a series following the young heroes after Camp Half-Blood.The Last Olympian is full of non-stop action (and of course, a few jokes), as the fate of the Olympians and indeed, that of the entire mortal world hangs in the balance. Percy’s 16th birthday approaches, along with its mysterious prophecy. The Titans are on the move, and the Olympian gods are divided in their defense. Even the demigods are fractured, with a spy in their midst. A few surprising twists and the relationship between Percy, Rachel and Annabeth will keep readers guessing until the end. A satisfying conclusion to a great series.

      Like the other books this one did not make me mad. I love this book. The story continues for Percy Jackson and his friends. Even thought this book is a childrens type book and I am 18. I still enjoyed reading the book and hope that young adults and even older people will pick up this book. Because like the other books in the sereis this one did not take long to read. I am happy with the way that Riordan ended the series and everything that I thought was going to happen from book one did happen in the end of the series.

      The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan is the last book in the series of Percy Jackson. Percy hears his great profecey, and he is not happy with it. He knows he will die and Olympus would get distroyed. Nico thinks of this plan and convinces Percy to go with it, and he does. They go to the underworld and Percy takes the risk and swims in the river concetrating hard on his one main weekness. He actually survives, and Nico is surprised. With the help of his friends, Percy is able to rescue Olympus, but there were many deaths. In the end they were each rewarded from the Gods. This is the last and best book of the Percy Jackson series. I didn't want anyone to spoil the end of the book. I am glad Luke died a hero and Percy was able to save Olympus. I would have been really freightened to face all of the monsters and even see Kronos's face. Annabeth was so strong too when she had to fight and got seriously hurt. It was sad though to read that there were many of Percy's friends who died. I really enjoyed reading this series, and I would highly recommend it.

      This young adult series is also great for adults. This is the final book in the series. The main character is Percy Jackson, son of a human woman and the Greek God Poseidon. It is current day, and Olympus is now in New York City. The Titan Kronos is trying to destroy Olympus and its gods, and Percy and the other demigods are fighting on the side of Olympus.There is a lot of action in this book, but also good characters who have developed over the course of the series. The series has been really popular, and it is worthy of that popularity. Can't wait to see what Rick Riordan comes up with next.

      So, recently my daughter's youth group was getting together to go see the newly released Percy Jackson movie. Problem was, we haven't read the books! (Problem for me, anyway... I hate watching a new "based on book" movie without having read the book. So, in the past few weeks, we checked out the 5 Percy Jackson books from the library:

      The Lightening Thief
      The Sea of Monsters
      The Titan's Curse
      The Battle of the Labyrinth
      The Last Olympians

      My 12 year old loved these books. Ate them up, in fact. I thought they were an enjoyable children's series. I liked the way they combined Greek Mythology into the modern day setting. To compare these books to the Harry Potter series seems unfair. I know there are a few similarities - the "magic", the "trio" of heroes/heroine, etc. but they are a completely different style of books in my opinion. They are not nearly as detailed as the HP series, but let's be honest... there are not many series that are. So, would I say it's the best series ever? No, but it is definitely a fun read if you like the fairy-tales genre.

      Oh, and if you do like this genre, be sure to check out the Nicolas Flammel series (by Michael Scott), which is a better comparison to these books than the Harry Potter books are. Plus, I liked them better.

      Awesome! I'm not really fully satisfied with the series ending, since I was left wondering what the heck happens to everyone, but it was a great addition to the series, and a great end to the main storyline. I loved it.

      Wow...the final book in this otherwise excellent series was by far the worst. Nearly the entire book is the final battle, and it was a dull one. It's a satisfying ending, and if you have enjoyed the other four you'll definitely want to read it, but exciting is definitely not the word for this one.

      I hate to end a series read on a sour note, but I think I found this to be the least inspired of the books in the Percy Jackson series. A big part of that may simply be that I read it after reading so many other YA fantasy series, and some of the premises are typical to the genre. However, I did feel as though a few key points were a bit too reminiscent of those in a certain very popular series about a certain other protagonist coming of age and facing a final battle. I can only imagine that creating characters and prose that grow with your readers is something for which few adults have a natural talent. That being said, I enjoyed these books immensely for what they were: easy, engaging reads, with simple but well turned out plots, with characters to whom most readers can relate on some level.

      I'm sad to say that I finished [The Last Olympian] and with it The Percy Jackson Series. I wasn't disappointed. I thought Riordan did a great job bringing to the series to a close. It didn't offer any huge surprises or plot twists and yet everything wasn't quite the neat tidy package that a less congident writer might deliver. The writing was crisp with enough action to keep those with short attention spans hooked, but it also delivered a well constructed story and the humor series fans have to come to expect. If any agenda can be had it's that Riordan clearly left the door open for another series that may feature previously secondary characters or new ones. It's hard to fault him and yet I was just a bit put off by that. While a follow-up series wouldn't change the original series, it makes me think of those TV shows that couldn't let a good thing come to a natural end. I'm thinking 'Joanie Love Chachie' or 'Joey'.

      A great ending to the Percy Jackson series! I really enjoyed it and flew through it as I did the rest of the books. Lots of action and quite a few surprises, and I liked how the Annabeth, Percy, Rachel love triangle was resolved.
