Introduction
Many of us do not understand why we are here on earth, therefore, we settle for careers that have nothing to do with our destiny, whereas God is interested in our destiny and His intention for each and every one of us. This book is focused on the plan of God for all humanity. It does not matter what race, gender, how rich or poor some of us or most of us are. God has a good plan for all of us. It does not even matter what is going on in this world because it is all going to change. It is time we stopped blaming God, situations or even people for what is happening in our personal lives. It is time to find out why the earth, everything on it and humans were created. I have only one word for you concerning this: "kingdom." But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you, Matthew 6:33, KJV.
Jesus Christ preached one message: The Kingdom of God. Jesus traveled throughout Galilee teaching in the synagogues, preaching everywhere the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed people who had every kind of sickness and disease, Matthew 4:23, NLT. He even sent His disciples to preach the same message. Jesus sent the twelve disciples out with these instructions: Don’t go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans, but only to the people of Israel—God’s lost sheep. Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near, Matthew 10:5-7, NLT. He then illustrated on how to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. See Matthew 24:14, NLT.
Apostle Paul also preached about the Kingdom of God. Then Paul went to the synagogue and preached boldly for the next three months, arguing persuasively about the Kingdom of God, Acts 19:8, and NLT. See Acts 28:23 & 31, NLT. What I am saying dear brothers and sisters, is that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God, 1 Corinthians 15:50, NLT.
What is a Kingdom?
According to the Oxford Dictionary, a kingdom is a territory (extent of the land under the jurisdiction of a ruler) or State ruled by a king or queen. It is a domain (area under one rule and control). It is the division of the natural world. It is a spiritual reign or sphere of God.
If you look closely at this meaning, it is clear that a kingdom has two realms. It has the natural realm and the spiritual realm. This is what I am going to talk about in this book: The natural and spiritual kingdom and the people ruling these two kingdoms.
In the natural realm a kingdom is a land, meaning a part of the earth’s surface, ground or soil that is not covered by sea. In the spiritual realm it will be individual gifts and ministries, particularly in the church.
Therefore, a kingdom is a territory that is owned by a person. This is where my focus is, that a kingdom is not people who are ruled by a king or person, but it is a territory that is owned or ruled by a person. What I am saying is that no man is supposed to rule another man, not even the government. The government was meant to rule the country’s affairs and take care of the nation’s needs, not necessarily to rule the people directly. I say this because there is no nation that can operate without some sort of leadership, which is the government. However, every man has a kingdom (territory) to rule, and by saying man it is not with the exclusion of women.
I want to make this very clear because people have the tendency to think or even believe that they are supposed to rule over other people. That is why we have abuse and misuse because whenever one person rules another, somewhere; somehow, there will be abuse, misuse, overpowering, manipulation and everything in between.
Field of Work
Earlier on we broke down the meaning of kingdom until we got to understand that it literally means land or territory.
We know that when you own a land you can actually use it for anything you want, as long as it is not illegal of course. You can build a house on it; you can turn it into a farm or build a building for business on it. You can do anything with it freely because it belongs to you and nobody can stop you or even tell you what to do with it because it is your own territory and you have full ownership of it. Though, due to sin and its results, this was turned into a business for our local municipality. Now you have to pay municipality fees or levies for a land and property that you own. I will not get into this but it is true.
Another word that also means land is field
, and in this chapter I want to use the word field instead of land because land will restrict me to anything that has to do with ground and soil. I want to go beyond ground and soil in fully explaining the concept of a kingdom. In other words, a field is comprised of land for work because you have to sweep and water it at times. So, a land, territory or kingdom, which ever term you want to use, is a field of work and I want to talk more about this concept ‘field of work’.
We all know that here in South Africa, I don’t know about the rest of the world though, when you go to grade ten, you have to choose subjects which corresponds with the course that you want to do in tertiary level, which will eventually lead you to a career or field of expertise you will make a living off. For instance, if you want to do Science and Medicine, you will have to choose subjects like Science; Biology; Mathematics and one other subject besides English and Afrikaans, which are compulsory. If you want to pursue
