About this ebook

Facing tragedy in her life, seventeen-year-old Rachel McDonald goes on a spiritual journey as Christ Jesus answers her questions. Rachel knows that God loves her, but she still is unclear about why bad things have happened to her, her sister, and her best friend. This narrative study explains Gods love and compassion for Rachel and for everyone through the inspired Word of His Son, Christ Jesus.

Jesus, I Dont Understand describes Gods endless love, mercy, and grace as Christ Jesus speaks to Rachels heart as only a Father could. Rachel, a young Christian girl, attends a Bible study class every Wednesday with her best friend, Matthew Lacy. When a terrible accident occurs, however, it changes her faith in the goodness of God and His promises. All the things she learned in her Bible study classes begin to unravel for her. She feels alone and confused, and she has three important questions for Christ Jesus:

Why do children die so young? Why do young people get sick? Are we really going to heaven when we die?

As a pastor nothing is more satisfying or exciting than watching one of God’s children grow in grace as they serve others. Joyce is one of those people, she is always willing to help others, to serve where needed and always with a smile and a word of encouragement. She is faithful and committed to her family, her Church, but most important of all to her Savior. She is a wonderful example of a woman of God who enjoys her salvation and loves Her Savior. To know Joyce is to love Joyce. It is a privilege and an honor to be her pastor.

—Pastor Waymond B. Duke, Forest Heights Baptist Church

Joyce Williams Graves is a virtuous woman with a delightful spirit. You can see God in her bright eyes, jovial smile, and her art-deco home, and in her gentleman mate. It’s a blessing and honor for me to be associated with a lady that walks in God’s Holy Light daily. Mrs. Graves felt the need to write Jesus, I Don’t Understand, for people of all ages. For many years she wanted to share what Jesus will do for us if we just have faith. She tells us in Jesus, I Don’t Understand, we can do whatever we want by God’s grace. The power of prayer is expressed in this new book, all we have to do is not procrastinate and look to God’s word.

This book is dedicated to my grandchildren,

Lael, Faith, Janna, Elijah, and Micah.

They came to know the Lord at a very early age.

My prayer is they know Him in their lives forever.

I love you all so much.

    PREFACE

Jesus, I Don’t Understand was written because I wanted everyone to know God’s Word is real and true. Through all my trails, tribulations, joys, sorrows, expectations, and experiences with sickness, pain and death, I still believe in God’s Holy Word. Oh Yes! I have had many questions, like why do things happen the way they did to me, why do we have sickness, and are we really going to live in paradise? Of course, like many others, I felt some things in my life seem unfair, yet in the same respect as I became older, I felt my life has been truly blessed through my family, friends, and God’s Holy Word. I have tried my very best to be a good person, by studying God’s word, praying for others, and giving as unselfishly as I knew how? However, I have found through God’s Word there’s not a good person on earth! As the Scriptures say, No one is good—not even one (Romans 3:10 NLT). More importantly, none of those things are going to get me or you into heaven. I was born a sinner, like everyone else into this world. But, through God’s salvation (spiritual rescue from sin and death) by grace (His favor) and His compassion, we have been given much more than we deserve. For grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people (Titus 2:11 NLT). But, we must be ready to receive this wonderful grace. This mean we must be obedient. Obedience to God’s Word confirms your faith. We cannot earn this grace by our works of human merit. No, God saved you and me by His grace when we believed in His one and only begotten Son, Christ Jesus. He loves us that much!

Grace is a gift from God. Our salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it (Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT). In the Bible, Paul affirmed that grace is accessed by faith (Romans 5:1-2 NLT). So through our faith in God and His Son, Christ Jesus (which none of us have seen) requires you to admit, believe and commit to God’s Word. Yes, we must admit we are a sinner. You must believe that Christ Jesus is God’s Son. You must commit to repent (make a U turn) of your sins. There is no other way to have eternal life. "For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have
