About this ebook

Planets in the cosmos affect the lives on earth; we know that all forms of life on earth are made up of building blocks from planets around the earth. Essentially, these planets therefore exert their control, on the lives of human beings on earth.

These planets send electromagnetic radiation and rays to earth, both weak and strong which demonstrates one aspect of their ability to influence lives. Human beings are continuing to understand these effects through many years of analytical work and case studies which is the basis of astrology.

Humans are able to reasonably protect themselves from negative impacts of the planets and avoid unwanted effects. Meteorologists, other scientists and astrologists are not playing God; they are studying, understanding, developing and protecting humans on earth from such negative influences.

There are many areas of interest for humans; things that affect all of our lives, such as health, wealth, education, married life, childbirth and employment. Making decisions on these areas are also effected as we are using our mind, feelings and personal judgment. Planets essentially affect our mind, hence altering our abilities to make important decisions with positive or negative outcomes.

When and how, the planets affect our lives can be understood to a certain extent, through the knowledge of astrology.

This book does not cover all aspects of astrology to practice as an astrologer. People with limited or no knowledge of astrology trying to understand astrological jargons and predictions, will find this book useful in understanding the basics of astrology; yet, it also provides an interesting read for those who have never been previously exposed to astrology.

    Preface

Astrology intrigues many types of people. There are those who read their stars in the newspapers and magazines, those who – out of a deeper curiosity – have their charts made by astrologers and read from time to time, those who pursue astrology as a hobby, and those who rely on astrology for guidance in their daily lives.

If you are in the first two categories and your interest in astrology is based on curiosity and its entertainment value, the subject becomes even more intriguing if you understand how it works. This book is intended for these readers who want to learn more, and to perhaps master the basics of astrology; to understand more clearly why astrologers make the predictions they do. We have tried to present the how’s and why’s of astrology in such a way that readers will be able to apply astrological principles to their own charts and those of their friends and families, thus gaining deeper insights into their lives.

    Dedication

This book is dedicated to my grandfather (the late Sinnathamby Kandiah), to my father-in-law (the late Sellar Saravanamuthu), and to Aloysius’s father (the late Muthucumaru Vincent Aseervatham).

    Foreword 1

    Ratnam Kandasamy

There are many books written on astrology. It is fascinating that the planets in the cosmos affect the lives on earth. They have great influence on nature as well as on the human beings. Humans, influenced by these planets causing good and bad effects in their lives, tend to seek the help of astrologers.

This book does not cover all aspects of astrology to practise as an astrologer. People with limited or no knowledge of astrology trying to understand astrological jargons and predictions will find this book useful for further understanding.

A professional accountant with an astrological background and being an author of many mathematics and accountancy books, my friend for over thirty years, Aloysius was determined to fulfil his vision of providing a book, which will help the people to understand the basics of astrology motivated me to write this book. Al’s motivation, interest, and contribution to bring out this book will remain in my heart forever. His knowledge of writing and publishing many books and his uncompromised interest and dedication have been invaluable to me personally to author and publish this book.

There are no words to thank my friend Al for giving his support, motivation, and strength to fulfil his vision through me.

    Foreword 2

    Aloysius Aseervatham

I am not an astrologer. My father, on the other hand, had sufficient knowledge of astrology to author a book in 1974 on the basics. It was popular enough to warrant a reprint in 1986, nine years after he passed away. My own interest in astrology was stirred at an early age by my father, who believed that it added wisdom to the way we understand events in our lives and the people around us.

Despite my own limitations, I was interested to be involved in publishing a book to understand the basics of astrology.

My friend over thirty years, Ratnam Kandasamy, had a deeper knowledge of astrology, needed to realise this ambition. Ratnam, during his early years, gained his knowledge of astrology from his grandfather, and later, from his father-in-law. Ratnam with his knowledge, his time,
