About this ebook

In 2008, Louise Richardson was taken ill with an ME type illness and a cerebral aneurysm. Her world came to an abrupt stop and everything she had worked hard for came crashing down around her. Louise thought that she had nothing to look forward to and felt very stuck in a situation, not of her choosing. She had a responsible job, money, lovely home and was studying for a degree. Just the previous month she had been travelling and had no indication of what was to come. Having spent a number of years within the confines of her home, Louise decided to take back control of her life and began, very slowly, to find things that she was able to attempt. Louise used poetry to escape her confines and to release her emotions and to finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Along with poetry, Louise also paints and has revived her love of singing and dancing.
She hopes that you find this book both interesting and helpful. Perhaps you are in a dark place at the moment and cannot see a way out, you just need some motivation or the knowledge that someone has the understanding and way forward for how you are feeling at this time.
Whatever the reason, please enjoy the read!

The Greatness Within - Louise Richardson

    Before the Event

    The Wonderful World

The trees, the woods, the forests

    Greens, browns, yellows, and reds

    Glorious canopies, tunnels of branches

Leaves making soft and comfortable beds

All manner of insects cover the ground

Animals climb or fly high up into the sky

The birds and animals scavenge around

Nothing is left just to die

    Natural wonders!

Whether for food, shelter, or prey

    Such a wonderful arrangement

To preserve the world for another day

    Mountains high and tall

Snowcapped at times but often green

    Rugged, rocky, and dangerous

    Air so fresh and clean

    So beautiful and still

    Peace and quiet reign supreme

    Isolating in remoteness

    Such a wonderous dream

    Seas so deep and wide

Calm or tremendous in their power

    White-topped waves or pounding surges

    Rising to watery towers

    The power of the water

And the calming influence it can exert

All contribute to the awe and wonder

    Of this most beautiful Earth

Everything has its place, you see

And everyone has a part to play

    Such a wonderful arrangement

To preserve the world for another day

    My Poinsettia

    Still here months after Christmas,

That’s so rare but so beautiful.

Richness and colour still brilliant and vibrant,

    Loving your new home.

    Keep well and keep healthy.

The beauty that you bring on a cold spring morning

    So wonderful to behold.

You stand so tall and strong and yet

You could so easily have left us alone.

    Keep your glorious stature,

And keep making us smile and glow within.

Enjoy the energy and love from the sun,

And glow bright until summer comes.

You bring such love and brightness

    Even on a darkening
