INTRODUCTION

O ur all Mighty God created human beings in His own image and He made them in His likeness. He created humans with a free will, gave them a body (flesh) to clothe them and He breathed the spirit of life to the man and a man became a living being. When the author speaks about man he is referring to both male and female. A human being is a triune being. (1Thessalonians 5:23) He is a spirit has a soul and he lives in a body. The body is a structure or house for the spirit, the spirit is a real person who communicates with the third person of the Trinity the Holy Spirit, and the soul which has three parts: a will, a mind, and emotions. I will speak about these parts in detail.

It is vital therefore to know and understand these three parts that constitute a man. When we begin to know and understand this concept, we establish a good relationship with our father God. A good relationship with our father God will be sustained by a successful and a powerful prayer.

When God created humankind he specifically wanted to have a long lasting relationship with them. That is why humankind has the spirit within them. The human spirit works together with the third person of the Trinity the Holy Spirit. We will learn more about it as we read the book.

The soul on the other hand is in between the body which uses it as a dwelling place and the spirit that serves as a communicator. Please notice that the soul is in between it can either be controlled by the flesh or by the spirit. It all depends on the soul.

For the sake of better understanding to the reader the body will be called the flesh, because the body has the flesh. The flesh houses the soul and always wants to be in control of the soul.

Each part plays a significant role in the success or failure of our prayer life. This book will show you how to put each part to its place and how each part is to play the role in its place. Take time to carefully read the pages of the book. It is simple, but powerful it will build your spirit and strengthen your relationship with God. May our God use the pages of this book (which He has so powerfully laid upon my heart to write) to create in your spirit the desire to seek Him while He may be found.

Archbishop N. G. Sibande, (BA Ed.).

CHAPTER 1

WHO ARE YOU OUTWARDLY?

I t is good to know and understand how our bodies function. It is also good to take care of our body because we are the image of the invisible God. Eating good food and exercising will keep our body in good shape and prevent unwanted chronic illnesses. Sometimes we are not sick because somebody bewitched us but we are sick because we eat wrong food and we do not exercise. If we can begin to know who we are, we can begin to maintain our bodies in a good manner.

THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and our bodies are members of Christ himself. If your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, it means that there is someone who lives inside you and is bigger than you. (Galatians 2:20). Therefore, you have to take care of your body for the sake of the one bigger than you and for your sake. Here is an example: Someone is sick and he has to pray for the sick person, although it is the Holy Spirit that heals, it has to use his body as an instrument or vessel to heal the sick. If he is sick and can’t even raise up his hand how will the Holy Spirit heal through him? Apostle Paul wrote a letter for the believers in Corinth telling them about the importance of the body.

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your body. (1 Corinthians 6: 19-20).

The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and Apostle Paul makes it clear that the Holy Spirit is in you. Who are you? You refers to the self-identity of all those that have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour and received the gift of the Holy Spirit from God. The Holy Spirit will then abide in him using his body as its dwelling place. Apostle Paul says that we are not our own and that our body
