About this ebook

This highly interactive and motivational book offers clear insight for making Matthew 22:3739 into a lifes path. Dr. Wayne Scott presents the content through an innovative method of learning called biblical journaling. This helps you to interact with Gods Word.

Included are seven chapters on Gods love that have been rewritten into a more contemporary style from Orison Swett Mardens book Loves Way (1891). Marden was the most widely read author of self-development books in the nineteenth century.

A comprehensive supplement (presenting 103 journaling questions) is included for the purpose of bringing you to a full understanding of Gods plan for salvation. The supplement starts with the question, If you were to die today, would you go to Heaven? If you cannot give an affirmative yes, then hopefully after working through the supplement you will be able to answer Yes, I know I am going to heaven.

    ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This new book includes selected chapters from Orison Swett Marden’s classic book Try Love’s Way (1881). These chapters have been edited into a more contemporary style. Value of the content has been greatly enhanced with the addition of a highly-interactive mode of learning-journaling. Also, a biblical journaling study is provided which parallels the intent of Matthew 22:37-39.

This book is dedicated to Orison Swett Marden (1850-1924) who may well have been the most widely read author of self-development books of the nineteenth century.

    PREFACE

This new book had its beginning with the merging of several converging paths. First was my love for Orison Swett Marden’s books.

Second is my struggle with the question that a visiting pastor asked me as he was leaving my home after a casual visit: Are you sure you are going to Heaven when you die?

I answered with a weak, I certainly hope so. (Not the correct answer!) My afterthought was that I did not know enough of God’s plan for salvation to answer the question.

The third path was Matthew 22:37-39 and especially love thy neighbor as thyself. It is conclusive to me that loving others as yourself is possible only if you have Christ and the Holy Spirit in your heart.

Lastly, I continued to visually think of the relationship of

    Faith = Belief + Transformation

Since we receive Christ in our hearts by faith, the work to be done by me is to increase my faith which results in assurance that I am going to Heaven.

The transformation part of the relationship is paramount to the Christian character. It is what we as Christians should do after understanding and believing John 3:16.

The Christian character should be displayed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week until death. Unfortunately, many Christians stop with minimal faith. The transformation concept is a major part of this book.

    Wayne Scott, Ph.D.

    CHAPTER 1

    ACCEPTING GOD’S LOVE

John 3:16—For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 13:34,35—A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

    1.1   The Invitation

IF your life were wasting away from a painful disease which physicians pronounced incurable and a master physician should appear who declared there was no such thing as an incurable disease and that he would heal you and all sufferers who would go to him, would you not go?

Did you ever realize that you have a personal invitation from One who can lift you out of all your sufferings, physical and mental; who can solve all your problems and difficulties?

Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Is not that a personal invitation from the divine Physician, God’s love? And if you accept it, with all that it means, you will realize that peace which passeth understanding. Your cares and difficulties will melt and dissolve
