About this ebook
Ancient Thai Folklore and A Modern-Day Tale of a Boys’ Football Team’s Cave Adventure combine to weave a story of Lek, a small boy, who learns to swim and dive, and escapes the clutches of the cave’s jaws. It is a tale of family solidarity, of hope and longing. It is also a story of The Princess of Sip Song Panna, a tragic, mystical heroine who bestows her benevolence on the lost boys. It is the story of an International Team who fought for the survivors and won against the ferocity of nature: The Monsoon. Most of all, it is the story of a true hero, who did not die in vain.

About the Author
The Cave.
There were once some Thai boys, who went on an adventure holiday in Chang Rai, in wildest Thailand. They rode the fabulous trail that took them around vast mountains, and through miles of dark forests. Tired and exhausted from their day’s trekking, they came across a cave. It was wide at the entrance and towered over their heads, like a temple, into the sky. They crashed down their bicycles, took off their shoes and approached the cave entrance.
Wow!
Chaunchen, the short boy, with the cheeky grin, said. Let’s go inside.
We aren’t supposed to go off the trail, Chaunchen!
little Lek said, but nobody listened. He was quite small.
Paitoon peered into the cave, and, with a smile of reassurance, persuaded his friend to enter.
We are The Wild Boars! But to deserve that name, you have to earn it.
He put his fingers to his mouth and whistled to the others, who were standing at a distance.
Everyone’s going in! Here’s the challenge! Write your name on the cave wall before midnight. Spend the night in the cave. Make sure you make it back. Are you up for it?
Chaiya laughed! What a team he had built! He felt proud.
Does that include me?
he said, turning to Paitoon, the best goalie he had ever trained.
Yes, of course!
Paitoon said, aghast at their great teacher’s modesty.
The cave floor was dry. Inside, there were many dark narrow passages. They ran from the sides of the cave into its depths. Above them, the rock structure towered, meter upon meter high. Paitoon gasped in awe. It was like a football stadium. In the walls of the cave, at different
