About this ebook
Violet Hinton started out as a factory worker and put herself through college and law school with the help and support of her husband and four children.
She has been an attorney for 23 years and has primarily practiced in the areas of family and criminal law. On a couple of occasions she has found herself out investigating the crime that her client, Ellery Rose, was being accused of. The first time she couldnt get the prosecutor to look at the case and it was dropped. This time, however, she decided to investigate the crime which turned out to be a twist and turn of events. She had read about witches but this was one person who actually thought she was a witch, not just a witch but a black witch. Those around this black witch feared her.
After investigating this case it is clear that the Chief of Police was scared of Heather Rose and since no one will pursue her, the State Police must know something that they will not divulge even though the Freedom of Information Act is in place. The prosecutor will not do anything. Either Heather Rose is so evil that she made everyone fear her, or they know that she is 6-foot under as the Chief of Police said that she should be killed.
The only way to bring this danger out to the public is to write the story of what occurred back in January 1996. Yes it happened in Battle Creek, Michigan but she could be anywhere now, maybe living next to you.
V. K. Hill

Author’s Note: all spelling and grammatical errors in this novel are intentional and included to remain true to the notes and police reports in this case. The Police reports are from the actual transcripts of the investigation. The names have been changed to protect the innocent.
The views expressed in this work are solely those of the author, and do not necessarily reflect the views of the publisher, and the publisher hereby disclaims any responsibility for them.
This story is a story of murder, fraud, missing people, witchcraft and conspiracy to murder. The story continues and does not seem to come to an end. The story will not end until Heather Rose is either, found dead or convicted of the murder of David Hyatt, and the conspiracy to kill her husband, Ellery Rose. Heather was able to change her appearance and so often that the police where never sure what she looked like from one interview to next.
The facts of this case are true, according to the police reports, and court records; some of this story is based on the writer’s interpretations and experience as an attorney. Although some of the witnesses were interviewed, the witnesses refused to tell all that they knew. Eric was also contacted but would not talk; he was just trying to get information about Heather as she had promised to wait for him. Eric wanted this information because he had yet to hear from Heather. The witnesses that were interviewed were afraid of Heather; even the police chief put this to bed and didn’t want any more investigation, although his officers objected. Some of the details came from Heather’s mother who was evasive and would change her answer once caught in a lie. The author also talked to the police officers who were involved at least the ones she could find as the Pennfield Police Station was no longer operated by the Pennfield police due to lack of funding. Some of this story comes from the memories of the writer of days gone by when she knew David in school. A police officer remembers that the police chief believed that someone should just kill Heather, to eliminate the evil, for that is what she was: pure evil.
It has been discovered that there is also an unsolved murder in Arizona which was committed the same way as David’s murder around the same time. The question is and still is, was this committed by the same people?
As I sat in my office in Battle Creek, Michigan on a hot summer day in August, I received a call from a concerned father, who started telling me a story that was really was hard to believe. It was a story that you would see on television, on 60 Minutes or Dateline. It had all the elements of a fictional murder mystery; it had a love triangle, sex, betrayal, and an unusual element: witchcraft. I questioned whether this father’s account was real, but the father insisted that it was real, and that he could provide proof.
After hearing the father’s story, I was intrigued and decided I wanted to hear more, so, I located my calendar, to make the father an appointment. As I looked through my calendar to find an available time, I found an opening for the next day, and made him an appointment. Instead of referring to this father as father
I will refer to him as Dad. This gentleman is the dad
of a relevant character in this story, the dad
of Ellery Rose. The following day, Dad came into my office, and was accompanied by his wife and daughter. Dad was not a tall man, in fact, he was of average height, and heavyset. Dad had long dark hair and mustache and beard. His wife was a shorter woman, and one may describe her as stocky. Dad’s daughter was very pretty, and had long dark hair.
After the introductions, I asked Dad how I could help him. I am a well established family law attorney in Battle Creek, Michigan. While I do handle some criminal matters and estate matters, the majority of my practice consists of family law matters. Dad explained that he was here to find out how he could help his son avoid jail, for not paying child support that his son owed. Dad was concerned with this because the penalty for not paying child support was jail. Dad had once paid $35,000.00 for his son, Ellery, to get out of jail. This was in 2004. Dad really needed my help. Dad stated that he didn’t have that kind of money to spend, and Dad explained that he had already refinanced his house, and wanted to resolve this issue. As I asked the usual questions that I ask, when a new client comes into my office, I learned that Ellery was married to a woman named Heather. Heather had obtained a court order, in which, her husband, Ellery, was required to pay child support for her child, note that Ellery was not the father of Heather’s child, but for whatever reason, agreed upon by the parties, Ellery took on the support obligation. I was involved at this point, because The Friend of the Court (an agency which assists the Court with resolving custodial and support issues) was about to hold a Show Cause Hearing. In this instance, the hearing was to find Dad’s son, Ellery, in contempt, for not paying the past due child support. As I have represented many people over the years, I found it unusual that Ellery took on the support obligation of a child that was not his, which led to more questions. The questions led to a story told by Dad. Although Dad was the main narrator of this story, Dad’s daughter seemed to know the facts better than Dad.
When I started listening to the story, I wanted to know more. I became wrapped up in the story and this led to my involvement in the case. This was a case with a lot of interesting facts, and a case with a lot of twists and turns. This was a case that I wouldn’t be paid for, but I took it, I needed to know the whole story. I wanted to know the facts and the events which led to a local, brutal murder. This murder and the representation of Ellery, in the child support matter, were unrelated, but I became entangled with this fascinating set of events that led to a murder. Dad told me had proof of the facts that he was telling me. The proof he had was an old newspaper clipping, which had nothing to do with child support, but had to do with a conviction of a local man Eric Yeo. As I read the newspaper clipping, I realized it was an article about a brutal murder of a man, named David Hyatt. I remembered reading about David Hyatt’ murder in the Battle Creek Enquirer, the local newspaper. At the time I read the article, all I said was Oh I went to school with him
. What did a 14 year old murder case have to do with child support? For that answer, one has to start at the beginning, and the beginning started 14 years ago.
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
This story all started in May of 1992, and it starts with Ellery. Ellery was young, at the time of these events, he was born November 16, 1973, and he was 19 years old at this time. Ellery could be described as tall, dark, and handsome, strong and available. Ellery had decided to serve his country and had joined the Michigan Army National Guard. Shortly after his return from basic training, Ellery met Heather. Ellery saw a young, available, blond, who weighed 105 pounds with a petite height of 5 foot three inches. Heather was born February 8, 1972; she was 20 at this time. Ellery knew of Heather from High School, but remembered that she had dropped out of school, and did not graduate. Heather paid little attention to Ellery, and probably didn’t give him a second look, because it wasn’t cool
to date someone in a lower grade. However, when Ellery saw Heather, after some time, it was clear why she had dropped out of High School. Heather most likely left school because she was pregnant, and he realized this, when he saw Heather one day with an adorable little girl. Ellery saw the little girl and thought the little girl was as pretty as her mother, Heather. The little girl had the same blond hair as Heather, with blue eyes and had big smile. After Ellery saw Heather, the two of them started talking.
Ellery and Heather started talking about the old days, reminiscing about high school and catching up. Heather then told Ellery about the pregnancy and the baby. She elaborated, and explained to Ellery that the man that got her pregnant abandoned her and the baby. She said that the father of the baby wanted nothing to do with the child. The child’s name is Camilla, and Camilla was born June 26, 1990. Ellery couldn’t fathom how anyone could give a precious child up, especially one that looked like Camilla. Camilla looked like an angel. This angel looked just as pretty as Heather. This conversation led to more interactions with Heather and eventually led to Ellery and Heather dating.
Before anyone knew it, Ellery and Heather were in a full blown relationship, to include a sexual one. This is evidenced by Heather’s second pregnancy. However, just because Heather was pregnant, didn’t necessarily mean that it was Ellery’s child. Ellery
